DeSantis would have gotten away with Bootgate if not for going full autist
All he had to do was get some higher top dress shoes with a good (but not crazy) heel that would have let him sneak a few extra inches in by cramping extra insoles in. No one would have ever said anything about it.
Instead, he went full autist about it and tried getting away with wearing fricken cowboy boots with dress clothes and a suit coat as a guy from Florida, and not one who ever once came off as an even remotely redneck/country guy. Unreal. Dude might as well have put literal clown shoes on to draw attention to his footwear.
