creatine and kidneys

Anyone ever get a cystatin c to check their kidneys? My eGFR was low so I asked my doc for the test and he bert stared me

Creatine breaks down into creatinine, which is the blood marker used to calculate GFR and estimate kidney function. If you take a creatine supplement your creatinine will be elevated and consequently GFR also low. Doesn't mean that anything is wrong with your kidneys. Not sure what cystatin c is. If you really are concerned about your kidneys, best thing to do would probably be to get off creatine for a month or two then recheck blood work.
