As the title mentions I almost purchased 2830 Acacia Terrace in Buffalo Grove today. My realtor and I were assembling the offer and getting ready to sign everything when I thought I should Google the address one last time to ensure nothing unsavory was going on in the neighborhood. At the bottom of the page was the story of Andrei Kisliak and how he horrifically killed his entire family and the family dog before taking his own life.



My realtor said "this was a first" for her, but I can't help think how I almost bought this place where I would have had no idea until I moved in and the conversation eventually arose with the neighbors?!

Personally i wouldn't have a problem as long as the place was cleaned up and not left with the stain of blood or a weird smell. but this never crossed my mind and it would be annoying to have YT'ers taking pictures of the house or wondering around the property

My friend's brother bought one several years ago where there was a murder a handful of years prior. It was eventually solved but not before the house was sold to them. They ended up upgrading moving out but it wasn't because of the murder, they upgraded a few years later.

my building is 2 adjacent buildings. Some security guard broke into the adjacent buildings penthouse and murdered a prominent family after beating them for hours for no real reason. He got iced in the hallway trying to escape i think

They haven't been able to sell it somehow still.

Friends mum and dad bought a house like that when I was 13/14.

The dad killed the 3 kids, the mum and himself so my friends mum and dad had it for super cheap, from memory he killed them with a hammer in their sleep then hung himself.


To answer your question: yes I absolutely would buy it at a discounted rate.

This, I would use it as leverage in negotiation, they need to sell it below market rate because I will have a harder time selling it as well.

I'd probably take a pass on the house. It would depend i guess on how desperate the situation was. Realistically the house with the murders in it probably would not bother me too much I'm guessing, but emotionally it would give me the chills.

Would absolutely, at the very least, try and renegotiate the price much lower, especially if they failed to disclose the information. Shave off a huge chunk of the price.
