Help with tablet purchase in the year of our lord 2023

I don't use tablets at all and don't see a reason to. However, my mom uses one all the time. She's got a chitty one from 2014, and I figure a new one would make a good Christmas gift.

What would be a good tablet to buy in the $200 range? I am absolutely cool with buying used, and have been checking Ebay because they have a 20% off coupon.

The best iPad you can get for your price range honestly. Sorry I don't know specifically which one that would be.

Easiest to use, seem to last the longest, no half baked apps like android tablets.

I have a lenovo one and I barely use it. Its great on flights to watch movies or to play some stupid games but I would rather just use a phone or laptop.

One big thing is that the android tablets NEVER get updated, if you get an ipad it will atleast get software updates. They are more expensive though. I forget what i paid but only $150 or something.

edit - just saw for your mom. if shes not good at tech you could also consider an amazon fire tablet, it uses modified android. Their 11" one is on sale for $150. Amazon atleast puts out software updates.

What does she currently have? If it's Apple the I feel like you gotta stick with one. My mom hates her android phone after years of an iPhone and has to switch back to a familiar product.

She's on a Samsung one right now. Has a Samsung phone too. And she's a giga boomer who doesn't use anything beyond Google search or email.

I bought a lenovo m10 recently. Was like $130.

Its basically a large version of my phone, just cant make phone calls and has a bigger screen. get at least the 4gb of ram so it will be good for watching videos and normal peoples stuff.

No sense in over paying for these things. They probably have newer versions by now.

What to look for is the ram and the version of android. Some will come with the prior version and only update to the current, That means in a couple years it will run out of support and the like.

not an apple-cel but tablets really are a ****show when it's anything but an ipad. I'd get a used model, the 2021 used are pretty popular and relatively cheap.

If you can’t afford a iPad don’t even bother with anything else
