how to people even raise kids anymore... ?

... when most families have both the mom and dad working outside the home? does everyone just leave their kids at the grandparents' house?

My mother is not retired yet and my wife’s mother is dead so I don’t have the grandparents option. Kiddo is at daycare 5 days a week.

Why even have a kid if this is the case? I never understood this. You’re leaving your children with people whose ideologies possibly don’t align with yours.

Daycare and then school once they are old enough. But even then, my kids' middle school is 8-2:30 and the primary school is 9-3:45 so I have no idea how I'm going to manage that schedule for two years when they are at different ones.

Single parents who have jobs that aren't flexible, I have no idea how they handle it.

Every time I'm at someone else's house who has kids, I'm also appalled at how much screen time they get. The television is literally on all the time. We had dinner with friends last weekend and they even had a tv in their dining room that was on the entire time while we ate dinner.

This scenario is a pipe dream for 99.9% of the population, plus not letting grandparents hold their grandchildren? It's super important for kids to have more than just their parents that they feel safe with.
