****ty situation with the sale of my house, what would miscers do? (srs thread)
So ive been selling my house for a few months now ,market is kind of slow. Anyway heres the cliffs:
-House asking price is 350k
-House doesnt move for 6 months, best offer is 300k which i reject multiple times
-Topic comes up in a conversation with a family member im relatively close with and says they are interested on it as an investment
-I tell him that best i can do is 320k, which he agrees to, as he seems very interested. We shake hands on it
-Literally the next day another couple tells me that they want it and are willing to pay the 350k, ready to sign with their credit already approved and ready to go
What would you do lol.

Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Keep your word boyo. Or talk to the family member and see if they let you off the hook.
Just read the investment part. If that's the case sell it to whoever is willing to pay the most.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Inform your relative that you just got an offer for the full $350k asking price, and say nothing personal, but he'll need to offer to match it if he wants it. You'd already be doing him a slight favor by giving him an opportunity to match, though he may not see it that way.
This is a classic example of why you always wanna do your best to avoid blurring the lines between money and family/friends

Man I wouldn’t even be considering selling to family, that puts you in a bad negotiating position or could lead to other issues down the line
Just go for the higher offer

I feel like op is trying to trigger me and all of my fellow rent-tards.
Must be nice getting paid to leave your house…. I always get my security deposit taken away because I left dishes in the sink

show your family proof that you got the 350k offer, after you agreed with them.
explain that the extra money will go a long way for you.
of course they will understand if you go with the better offer.

But, i do work in the same field as he does, and we often do business together, share contracts etc, so yeah, its a bit trickier

Or tell your agent to do it. That's literally their job. Assuming they didn't drop you because you were making deals behind their back.
One other thing to think about is what this does to your neighbors as well. You lowball your house, and they lose value in theirs.

that way, your family will know your intentions.
which is trying to get the best deal for yourself which is always understandable. you aint trying to lie or screw them. just do whats best for yourself.

I think your family member would be a bit of Douce if he insisted on you selling the property for 320k ..when offered 30k more the next day.
And investment property...he doesn't need it.
And just lol at ppl saying through your fam 5 or 10k - hell no , deals off.
It would be one thing if you lead him on for weeks on this deal...but seeing its the very next day...and you are fam members...

There's a big difference between a handshake and signing on the line....
Sounds like you could use the money more than them
