Deadlift Back Angle

Lately I've been trying to focus a lot on improving my deadlift. I'm pretty tall at 6'3" but I find my back being too parallel to the floor with my shoulders too far over the bar which puts a lot of the leverage lower in my back. When trying to lower my hips and decreasing the angle of my hips, my right SI joint will start to become affected after the pull. I'm very good about ensuring my spine is neutral and my lift has my hips and shoulders moving together, but I feel like the leverage of the lift is being applied in the wrong place.

it's not really your overall height that matters, it's the proportions of your limbs.

when parallel how far past the bar are your shoulders?

its not extreme, but a good 6-12" past my shoulders being in line with the bar. Definitely feel when doing the pull the bar could swing out from my shins during the beginning of the lift if i relaxed my lats

you should feel that, that's why people work on lat activation so much for deads - usually a band pulling the bar away from you so you train to pull the bar back in - though 6-12" is definitely too far out in front
