Going in for foot surgery on Monday, hook me up with suggestions
Ok fellas, I've been battling a constant pain in my ankle for roughly a year. Conclusion is a fully separated tendon.
Surgeon is going to reconnect tendon and lengthen Achilles tendon while he's at it (to help with flexibility). I will be non-weight bearing for 6 weeks, and then in a walking boot for another 6ish weeks.
Give me your tips/suggestions for not being able to put weight on my foot for 6 weeks.
I already have the knee scooter, walker and shower chair. Anything else I'm missing or should pickup to make life somewhat easier?

It will suck 100%.
These take forever to heal but you have to deal with it.
Dont walk on it and try to tough it out until at least 6 weeks when they say you can. If you do, you will screw everything up, delay your recovery and will just cause more issues.
You might not be able to get into the shower right away. what i used to do initially was to take a sponge bath by the kitchen sink. wasnt ideal but works pretty good to feel refreshed.
Also get one of those high up toilet seats. very handy thing to have.
Driving will be hard to do so think about that as well.

"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

I was wondering about the toilet seat extenders, worth it huh?

How are you gonna handle stairs? Hopping up/down?
Do NOT violate your non-weightbearing precaution.
You seem to have thought of all the adaptive equipment.
So the surgeon is lengthening your Achilles tendon? What exactly is the procedure? I am confused.
