1080p @ 60fps OR 4K @ 30fps

What would you choose between these two?

The fact that its 2024 almost, and 30FPS is even a thing for gaming is a massive embarrassment.

4k 120+

60 fps is the new 30 fps

If a game can only get 30fps it shouldn't be released.

Sony doing a good job of conditioning the masses that 30 FPS is still considered acceptable.

But remember, PS6 is going to be just as good as a PC according to the ponies.

Errr what?

Sony games have released in multitude modes, 60, 30, rtx, rtx30, rtx60, unlocked framerates etc

Meanwhile redfall and starfield both released at 30 fps.

Seems like Xbox is trying to condition the masses that 30 fps is somehow considered acceptable .... as well as multiple load screens every 5 seconds.

And you generally have to use "performance mode" if the game has it to get 30+ FPS which scales down resolution.

I play it on PC so way more than 60.

Keep reaching guys. It's just a hunk of plastic, no need to get defensive about it.

One of the big things I notice that people don't often mention is not only is the judder of 30fps really bad on OLED but the input delay of button presses feels much more significant. Everything just feels laggy

I'm spoiled. Anything below 50 is unplayable. 60 is tolerable and expected for some games. But 90+ is preferred. It's diminished returns after about 110 or so IMO.

Therefore, I'd rather the 1080p @ 60 fps, but I'd stop to consider if 1440p @ 60+ is possible. It's basically the sweet spot IMO.

Walmart just had a deal of a 720/1080 50in for like $99 but i was going for a 58+ & there was no fukking whey i was going less than 4k on a screen that big. have a 75'' in the game room, 65'' in the master & living room & 58's in the bedrooms - all 4k.

I def noticed a difference in smoothness between 60 and around 90 while playing Spiderman 2018 recently but there were some slight drops in fidelity. I'm okay with 60 for now

1080p is fine if you're gaming on a PC monitor.

But it's trash on a large screen 4K TV.

I can get used to 30fps but I can't get used to 1080p. If it's the choice between those two, absolutely the 4K 30fps.

But ideally, it would be something in between. 1800-2000p at 40fps would be my preferred mode on consoles.

If I am gaming on PC, I'll set it to native 4K and just downscale graphic settings until I get 50-60fps. Windows 11 is pretty trash for using 2160p tho. Constant issues when I have PC connected to my 28" 4k monitor or 55" OLED TV

The question is a hypothetical you dork. It's asking if we value resolution or fps more. Of course we don't have big 4k TVs to play 1080p, luckily in the real world as PS5 owners we have a choice for both. Is it really that hard for misc smoothbrains to engage with a hypothetical?
