I just don't think the show would be that interesting from that point of view. We already have Ellie leading in a post apocalyptic world in TLOU. I'd have liked to see a male lead in this one and him having to compromise and do some crazy chit to survive. They obviously aren't gonna have their dorky female lead partake in morally grey acts.

Anyway, I don't think a young chick would feel relatable to follow in this show. It's supposed to be an insanely harsh world and this chick is fresh out the vault, young with soft perfect skin, looking absolutely flawless. And you already know they won't have her do anything crazy because we can't ever have a modern female lead with major character flaws.
She's gonna be extremely good and moral, yet somehow able to navigate and survive this new world like a pro.

Aloy is a nuanced character. Ellie is a nuanced character, as well as Abby. So too are Chloe and Nadine from Uncharted Lost Legacy and Freya from God of War. They all have flaws they struggle with and they all suffer from said flaws at some point or the other. I have had zero issues with these characters or playing as them. For the most part, video game storytelling seems to be pretty good still.
My main concern for this TV show is I'm not much of a fan of how female leads have been portrayed in movies and TV shows recently.
