I just came back yesterday from 10 days solo in California. Didn't enjoy it as much as my international trips solo, but it was good to get away and relax a bit.

My favorite solo trips are to places halfway around the world where you can completely let go of anything back home.

You mean on business trips? All the time. I don’t cheat on wife, so it's boring. If I went to hotel bars I could pull one every night.

Wakeup, stretch, breakfast at hotel, go to location, go back to hotel, workout, room service, read misc or book, sleep. Some of my employees go out to restaurants or wine bars or check out the cities. I'm not into that unless there is something really cool. I'd rather work and not be the guy on the news killed by some homeless jogger.

To make my trips enjoyable I only fly delta first class even if it means a layover and only 3.5+ star hotels even if I have to drive further. I've added an hour to my commute just to not stay in a courtyard Marriott.

I've never travelled solo besides driving to the beach by myself. My mom is there all summer so I wasn't there alone.

Solo Travel: Yes, lots

Do I enjoy it: Yes and sometimes No.

Yes is that it's pure freedom. I set the agenda, schedule, everything at my pace.

"No" in some regards as I have witnessed intense beauty of this world, yet no one to share it with. Sometimes witnessing the absolute beauty of this world amplifies the silence of loneliness.

I have "dates" with different women, but no steady gf to travel with. It's easy for me as I'm fully-retired, semi-homeless. Harder for them as they are still working.

Not really. Lickily I have a tight group of friends that I can travel with and we all have similar interests, taste in food, budget etc all pretty much line up

Did a bit less than two weeks in Europe solo this past summer after the conclusion of a LTR. I had a really good time, although there were some moments where it felt weird not to have someone with me. I’ll probably continue to do it until I find myself with someone to join me again.

You have to stay in hostels to have a genuinely good time traveling solo. It changes the entire experience. Also, get good at making friends at bars and you can easily find people to hang out with.

I'm in my late 30s and still young enough to fit in with younger hostel crowds. But I can't imagine I'd want to be like 45 staying in hostels still, which will take much of the fun out of solo travel. Being in a hotel or Airbnb solo in some random city can be somewhat depressing at times.

99% of my trips are solo & all alaska hikes have been solo

not that i am against hiking with others but it's such an ass pain to try to organize it or something out of state or in alaska

like fuk it i'll just go

All the time. There will be moments where you're somewhere absolutely spectacular and you wish there was someone there to share it with but other than that you get to do whatever you want to do whenever and that freedom is amazing.

Agreed hostels are best, so many good memories.

The pros with traveling with friends is that it creates memories and a great fun adventure vibe. Just a good time. The cons though are that you have to wait and schedule with everyone, sit and decide what to do, etc.

I traveled for the first time on a straight solo vacation for a week in Utah and Vegas. Did zion national park, snow canyon in st. george, bryce canyon in utah, etc. The best part was doing whatever the fuk I wanted when I wanted with zero hesitation. I changed plans a few times on the trip without talking it over, texting people where are they or what they want to do, etc. Yea it's a bit "lonely" but that's extremely enjoyable when you are out exploring and doing stuff. A good time to be alone and recalibrate and just enjoy nature or a relaxing time.

I highly recommend it.

Never but would love to travel solo but am a bit weary as it would probably be better with a girl or friends. I go out solo a decent amount so getting used to it.

Better to go and enjoy then sit at home I say

Yeah, its the only way to travel. Went to korea, amsterdam, and thailand alone. I usually stay at hostels if I want to meet people.

I go hunting or backpacking into the wilderness for a week by myself sometimes. And yeah I enjoy it.
