Is this generation of vehicles terrible or am I slipping

I remember being tied to car interview/articles/videos because there were so many interesting vehicles being produced…

NOTHING excites me these days. Everything that partially interests me is basically garbage tier quality…

4Runner - old
Jeep Wrangler - electrical issues
Mustang - S6 is an S5 with Cheese on top
Camaro - gone
F150 - moronic pricing
Sierrra/Silverado/Tahoe - liifters / engine issues
Bronco - Engine/electrical issues

The only thing partially interesting is the Colorado ZR2 high output turbo but zero chance you are getting one. New Taco is mildly interesting…Nothing drives excitement.

Am I missing something?

Sports - Porsche or go home at this point. Only other car that excited me was the flat plane crank Mustang GT350, but it cost the same as higher end sports cars.

Trucks/SUV - new gen toyotas/lexus SUV's coming out slowly (GX and Lancruiser look nice. More so the GX)

Jeep/Bronco = very little extra utility compared to Toyota/Lexus for all the problems they give

now that they retired the V8 challenger I'm out. I'm just done. I traded my aging '15 SRT392 for a '23 hellcat last call and I'm going to try and keep that thing alive as long as I can. otherwise i don't give a damn about hardly anything left on the road.

What’s worse is that car manufacturers are abandoning sedans in favor of SUVs and crossovers which are ph@ggy as fuk, and the consumer is taking it bending over. Sad!

Yeah it's wild how neutered a lot of cars are. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if manufacturers banded together to make only one bland crossover in the same color. I was also tempted by a new Colorado, but a trail boss version. I ended up getting a car instead, there weren't any good deals on them in my area. Besides I'll probably hold on to my 1979 K10 for as long as I can, new trucks are just insanely priced as it is.

It's the opposite of what you said.

Consumer demand is driving SUV's. People want more storage, ground clearance and utility from a vehicle.

A SUV all around is more useful than a car.

Agreed. Can we get some more colors and maybe stuff like stripes or body graphics? A couple months ago I was walking past the drive thru at a Wendy's and every other car in line was black. I thought it was a god damn funeral procession passing through. Also, I'm sick of all the SUVs and crossovers.

Nah most new cars these days have technology/electronics overload. Only a few still standout to me, good cars are truly the exception these days, most cars are worse now than they were before. Emissions and downsizing making engines and transmissions worse, tech and government standards making cars heavier and uglier, interiors becoming dominated by big touch screens, lots of terrible trends these days. Seems like 00's - 10's was peak car design.

Even the "hot hatch" segment completely died...

A front wheel drive manual integra S with barely over 300 horses is 50k+ ......LOL WUT?

WRX - gone
Evo- gone

The only cars in this segment arent in this segment anymore. You have to go with a 65k luxury micro for what you used to get in a 35k "hot hatch" market...

Car market is DONE.

Even the 911 (992) looks GIGANTIC on the road. Looks like a fukin crossover SUV with a lower roof.

I don't like anything I see driving around anymore.

I still do a QUINTUPLE take when I see an old 993 on the road, or an old F355...

Every new car is just so massive and heavy - it's lame.

I doubt the younger kids are enthusiasts the way we were when growing up in the 90's.

Funny, last year I saw a old Ferrari 308 - largely considered one of the more undesirable Ferraris in history, and the thing still looked SICK irl. I'd take it MILES before any of the new stuff that has come out since 1999.

And even THAT thing is kind of a flop IMO. Styling is bad, and it weighs 3,800 pounds LOL....

I'd say the C6 z06 was peak vette (for modern vette... Nothing will ever top the c2)

Yeah I just don't know.

Those are nice for what they are but the markup makes them pretty stupid, that and the scarcity as they have been so high demand.

I loved the 7.0 C6 Z06, definitely one of my all-time favorites. The C7 could never capture the appeal of that generation, although the high-end models did seem to improve upon what the ZR1 established. The new C8 Z06 is incredible though, such a departure from what a Corvette has traditionally been, far more exotic.

Agreed on most new cars though, government regulations have made them all bloated and overweight for the most part.

Pics of said k10? Owned a ‘78 k10 and a ‘76 k20
Also test drove a canyon and wasn’t impressed tbh.
Cool looking but not worth 50k and didn’t feel particularly ballsy

Also a big part of everything becoming boring has to do with all of the added safety regulation bs.

Nah new cars are still pretty intersting to see what they do in terms of styling and interior.

wouln't buy one instead I'd rather upgrade old cars and make them luxurious.

Yeah they sound really boring these days. Turbos were a lot more fun when they made cool noises, now they just make everything sound muted.

We've had some people on another forum actually cancel their orders for new M3s and end up going with slightly used first model years since they still retained some physical buttons, after that a decision was made to change to two wrap around screens with mostly touch controls. I hate the lack of tactile feedback on those, plus you always have to take your eyes off the road.

That's the problem with German manufacturers especially these days. They're obsessed with trying to keep up with the latest trends, even if those trends suck.

I'm new to cars. All cars I've owned in the past have just been cheap Hyundai or Kia's. What does the misc think of buying a new WRX when it's time to upgrade my current car?

The most disappointing part is that they didnt offer the C8Z in a manual. Im gonna keep my C7GS 7-speed forever, maybe donate it to a race track if I decide to join one on the ground level.

The exciting stuff for this year were the "off-roading" sports/hyper cars like the sterrato, dakar.

2024 could be exciting for me as I want to purchase my first mid engine car in manual coupe, hoping to find a: R8(V10), F430/360, or Gallardo.

No, it sounds like you don't know what you're talking about.

Any real car guy will tell you the 90s - 07 was the worst era. The 70s were bad too, but at least you had muscle cars

LOL y'all don't know what y'all talking about. This is the age where you can slap on a tune or supercharger/Turbo and run 10s on stock internals and still be reliable.

Coyote/LS/B58/N63TU3/RB30DTT/M157 can easily run 600 - 800whp

There's so many builds I can do, just don't have the money.

And I haven't even gotten into the fast 4 bangers like the Hydunai N series, Civic Type R, Corolla GR, etc.
