At 35. He's lost about 25 lbs in the last couple months, has huge/swollen lymph nodes, a persistent cough, exhausted all the time.... Went and had blood work done last week, is waiting to get his results back. Had an ultrasound yesterday that didn't look good....they told him to immediately go to the ER to get an MRI of his chest.

Dude is about to have his boards to become an Officer in the military in 2 months, has a 10 month old son. We've been good friends for about 15 years.

What's weird is he and I both are like, "well, it is what it is" and I feel like neither one of us is taking it seriously or being affected emotionally. Our wives, especially his (of course) are freaking out. I just feel like at this point in life, with how much death, sickness and such I've experienced with family members, friends, etc..... I'm just numb to life.

I think you’re doing better than a lot of men, many dudes won’t even go in to see a doctor until they’re about to put the second foot in the ground much less see a doctor and work through the emotions etc that accompany a bad diagnosis

Btw I lost a young dog to lymphoma. He was healthy as a horse then one day we went for a hike and he was coughing like he had a bad chest cold.
Took him to the doctor the next day and we decided that putting him down was best. It had spread throughout his chest after having X-rays done.
I never fully recovered from that.
