Well, you pay them, so there's that.
Had a co-worker years ago (fat, ugly, annoying, slob) that suddenly had a cute Filipina picture on his desk. He went online and "fell in love" with one from over there. Sent her money, went over there and showered the family with gifts, etc. and went through the process to marry her and bring her over.
My GF at the time was Filapina, but born here, MBA educated, completely an American, etc, was even taller than even her dad and brother (5'6"). Was successfully print modeling at the time. So I guess someone said to him, Tom's GF is Filipina too. He starts talking to me about how much money and effort he spent, how the language barrier was tough, she was always talking on the phone in tagalog etc, asking me if I have the same issues. In a polite way, I told him that I didn't buy one and that my GF said to never trust one from over there, that they are the biggest scam artists in the world.
So maybe 2 years later, she left him (probably the day after her green card arrived in the mail) and wiped him out. He was actually surprised. I think that he actually thought that his "success" and manliness made her fall in love with him. lol

All they see is a meal ticket
1 Timothy 6:10
"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
