Anyone think Keto is the best fat loss diet?
Last time I did Keto was back in 2009, I remember the following:
Zero brain fog. Usually when I went to a 50 minute lecture I would fall asleep. On keto I remember going to 3 hour lectures and was wide awake. Just zero grogginess, brain fog, etc.
Incredible focus/concentration. During that 3 hour lecture it was just too easy to follow along.
Deep sleep. Always slept extremely well during keto, never woke up in the middle of the night.
Workouts were always awesome. Felt like driving a tesla vs a regular car, just clean energy consistently.
Muscle retention. Recall seeing the fat peel off and my muscles keeping their density/shape, didn't feel like I was getting smaller like on a regular cut.
Best part was probably the lack of cravings. I would never need to cheat in the middle of the week.

Yes, I'm on keto right now and it's always awesome for me.
My sleep is probably the thing that has not improved. In fact, sometimes it's hard to sleep because the increased energy just doesn't seem to calm down at night for me.
I hit some of my best PRs on keto many years ago. I'm not chasing numbers now so I don't plan on doing that again. But the muscle and strength retention are definitely there.

Yeah when you hit about that 9 day mark you do have a ton of energy and no brain fog. It's not meant for long term.
I always liked kept just to get rid of the last difficult to lose 10/20 pounds.
After that just eating healthy and a calorie deficit is what's needed. Healthy lifestyle not healthy diet.

Keto is fantastic for someone who is obese to begin their weight loss journey. It teaches them exactly how much certain foods impact therir bodyfat percentage, which is usually their main issue.
But in reality, it's a pretty crappy diet to stick with longterm for anybody.

I'm just unable to stick to a diet longterm at my age (35) due to cravings and whatnot. I need to use keto for 2-3 months then I'll probably never do it again.

If you're losing 50+ lbs it's going to take some time, and imo basic CICO is the easiest to live with over time. I suggest only cutting calories by 200 and having a satisfying amount to eat, and then use walking for exercise on top of lifting.

I've successfully done Keto for years in the past though, and it was how I successfully lost like 50 pounds when I was really obese. Not a bad way to do things at all.

Just saying after that three months you should adapt a clean healthy habit of eating and exercise or you will be doomed to repeat the cycle over and over and over.

keto doesn't have to be a fat loss diet, if it made you feel so good why not do it constantly???
keto isn't for everyone, but its great for some. Its easier to binge or overeat on carbs, no one craves chicken breast late at night. Its easier to be in a calorie deficit if you cut out carbs, you'll lose 5-10lbs and look smaller from water and glycogen retention
do your own research and try it out, don't listen to the idiots on this forum with chitty bodies doubting you, its harder to maintain if you're social since everything at a restaurant/bar has carbs

once the weight is off it's easy to maintain.

I struggle with getting lean which is where keto could help, but not staying lean, so no reason to do keto beyond the fat loss benefits. I've done it before which is why I'm thinking to do it againketo isn't for everyone, but its great for some. Its easier to binge or overeat on carbs, no one craves chicken breast late at night. Paul Saladino MD promoted for a few years, then turned it into animal-based + fruit/honey and started saying how bad keto is for you, which on one hand looks like he modifies his approach and is open-minded which is always good... but on the other hand the way he promotes the belief he currently holds he straight bashes the old approach which makes me think he does these cycles when he has a new shtick to promote for content.

I could only do it on the last month of a cut. Always felt like ****, and the complete opposite of what OP felt.
It could also be due to the low BF at that point.

It absolutely crashes me every time I've tried it. Last I tried was back in June and made it only 3 weeks. Went back to a normal, balanced diet and I feel so much better. Total T was 950 in October. Both my mood, physique and physical performance all better without Keto.

I pretty much do this as my normal diet right now. probably somewhere between 100-200g carbs per day with a lot of protein. Seems to work really well in the fat loss department, although it obviously doesn't work like regular keto does.

Yes it works, and it's very healthy, but even on a keto diet, if you eat too much you'll gain fat

There's literally no way you would be able to properly measure your CO, and the CI is allowed to be off by up to 20%. CICO doesn't work long term because to be sure you have to overcut calories and basically starve yourself.

I still remember Will Smith, before the slap, trying to lose 20lbs in six months, and he made it seem like such a struggle.
I mean...... 20lbs in six months???? He pretty much went on some boring crash diet, plain food, and excessive workouts and cardio and after two months, he quit.
