In some alternate universe, Tony did not have his head up his ass, saw the Young Bucks/Elite ****ing with his actual top star and immediately put a quash on it (even if it meant releasing the entire non-ratings drawing lot of them, the non-drawing Dark Order, the non-drawing Colt Cobana, etc).

In that universe, Punk was allowed to be the top guy and tell the story he wanted and in that story, once the AEW fans began to turn on him, ala Cena, unlike Cena - he rolled with it and became the top heel in the company to finish the story out, before putting over someone like MJF strong and then slowing down to a reduced role.
