Why do people make their entire personality their job?
How come most people i know always talk about their job? like bro, i don’t give a fuk about your job unless your an NFL general manager or something
You think i give a fuk about what some accountant who works for mr.nosenberg does?
yet everyone i know makes their entire personality revolve around their job. pathetic. the goal of life is to make as much money as possible doing the least amount of work as possible

Because in America career / consooming is central to ones identity, and most people frankly have absolutely NOTHING going on in their lives outside of their work and maybe their kids.
So it's, "Im an accountant and a dad". "Im a consultant and a mother". They have no other interests or goals.
Sure, some careers you can define yourself by. If you are starting your own business or pitching your start up on Shark Tank then that is awesome. If you are just 'senior blah blah director of blah blah for F500 noseburgh' then no one cares.
There are some places in America, such as Boulder CO, where if you ask 'what do you do' the answers will be things like mountain biking, skiing, running, etc.
But for majority of the country it's being overweight, work, and netflix. SAD

It’s the most used “ice breaker” , basically identifies your social class etc. usually a middle to middle-upper class conversation. Similar to “where do you live?” Or what was your vacation?
