Is Saving Private Ryan the worst award winning movie ever?

Hard to even get past Tom Hanks one of most dog**** actors ever but when you make a movie where he is basically looking for Matt Damon for 2 hours itโ€™s a recipe for a terrible ****ing movie. It does start with a great Normandy scene that is just a tease before it turns to ****, reminds me of the great intro to Gangs of New York which is followed by 3 hours of Cameron Diaz and DDL overacting.

Thin Red Line came out same year as Saving Ryan, much better war film.

Reps for being one of the only people I've ever seen admit that Tom Hanks is an overrated actor. People always slobber all over the guy so much. All I ever see in Tom Hanks characters is Tom Hanks himself.

It was stupid, but was still a good film. I think the problem is it came out the same time as a vastly superior WW2 film The Thin Red Line & this one undeservedly got all the attention & awards over that.

It was a good movie. I love Tom Hanks. But it does get overrated because of Spielberg. I think "The Green Mile," which was released that same year I think, is better

Worst movie to win Best Picture was Slumdog Millionaire (2008-9) or Crash (2004)

Not a Tom Hanks fan but it was an ok movie.
The best parts to me were the beginning beach scene and the scenes with the old man (Pvt Ryan). I cry everytime when he asks his wife if he was a good man.

You just gotta stop watching it after the beach landing scenes, at the time it was easily the most epic movie ever made if you do that. Still is pretty epic.

Just my opinion but I like that movie and I like Tom Hanks as an actor. May not agree with him on personal beliefs but I like some of his movies.
