And I don't mean friends just chitting on each other.

One time at work, I was hella busy with clients and the receptionist got right in my face and started bragging about her paintings showing me pics. The retarded sloot had 0 awareness that I was tryna get what I needed and run back to my client. Finally I told her "nah it's not that good" and saw her face go from 0-100 real quick. Took me a moment to realize what I said and I bolted back to my client.

This was from years ago but it still kinda bugs me.

meh, I think i've always been liked in workplaces. This was kinda a one-off situation. I blame having financial problems, low on sleep, and was hella busy at that moment.

Not a hobby but a sport. In high school I remember a guy on the track team always joked about how bad he was and he was just on the team for fun. One day at lunch we were messing with each other and I told him he sucked at track and he never spoke to me again.

Guy was telling me about a foreclosure he just bought and was fixing up. For some reason, I started going on about how much money my dad lost flipping houses and how he swore off the business forever. And I could see the guy starting to get quiet/uncomfortable.

I tried to soften it up a bit by telling him it was just really bad timing (which it was, my dad was flipping houses during the GFC)

Not about a hobby. But I did crush my niece at a family get together. She had a habit of bagging on the rest of the family. This particular day she was being extra snobby. Brought up how she’s the only one in the family with a masters degree (art history). I asked her how much money has that degree earned you? She didn’t have a job. Told her a roll of toilet paper has more worth. Since it serves a purpose and cost a lot less.

At the height of her “career” she was an event planner at a museum. And her parents had to subsidize her expenses just so she could live.

I do enjoy making fun a bit of videogamers that are 25+ lol
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

A lot of people who try to do the self-deprecating humor thing do so under the incorrect pretext that by making fun of themselves first, that that automatically means they aren't supposed to be made fun of for it period. Which, as you know, is not at all how it works. If you're gonna bag on yourself for something all the time, you can't be surprised when others e eventually join in.

I don't think obsession with anything is very good, but people waste time on lamer things than video games all the time. How many movies and TV show series that people have obsessed over in the last 20 years have been any lamer than video games? The same people who bag on playing a couple hours of video games here and there are the same people who see nothing wrong with rotting in front of garbage Netflix shows and Marvel movies for 5+ hours a day.

I just looked it up. Found some event planner job openings, and they pay under $50k.
