Go to the nearest Bay and you can locate some good charters. But, if you don't want to charter, Newport Beach or Oceanside or even SF, but you need to look around.

I'd say fishing out of Mexico on a multi day trip would be cool. Last time my dad went during an el nino year we ended up with a ton of squid instead of grouper, yellowfin, cabrilla, etc. Probably better to do it in the summer tho.

20 min away: Mission Inn is a street in riverside that decorates like crazy for Christmas and going there at night is fun. Take your wife there, it's easy to get to and she will love it.

45 min away: Palm Springs. Take the gondola to the top of mountain or hike.

60 min away: LA if you wanna get touristy

60 min away: Big bear mountain if you wanna ski or snowboard, fish etc

You'll have fun at six flags, they have some crazy rides. Definitely spend the extra money for their fast pass cause the lines can be long.

Tip: homeless are everywhere. Don't respond to them.

Yeah I live in a region about 30 miles north of LA and it has been 70-80 here and sunny for the past 45 days. Literally sunny every day. Nice cool nights as well.

Although it is supposed to rain Mon and Tues so OP could be in trouble.

Was going to spend next week in San Diego for a change in scenery because it'd been so nice there, aaaaand it's going to be cloudy then rain. Got a place in Sedona instead, probably more my speed anyway.
