Driving beater/beat up cars is awful for your self-esteem. Srs.

You don't need to have a richcel vehicle to be happy, but driving cars that are all beat to hell is rough on the self-esteem. Drove a beater for a number of years out of necessity for awhile when a much nicer looking car I had got totalled. Then I finally got a car that's not beat up hardly at all on the exterior. Made me feel like a million bucks, srs.

Then for a number of months recently, I was driving around with it looking like chit while I argued with some insurance of the idiot who hit me. Didn't realize how chitty driving it around all beat up like that was starting to make me feel again until I got it back fixed. Driving a beater car around is like being fat. People might like you anyway, but they're definitely noticing and lol'ing at you about it behind your back.

As long as it gets the job done I don’t give a f (srs)

Just take care of the bitch with basic maintenance

One time I saw a dude throwing a bitch fit because he noticed a minor scratch on his new challenger

A grown ass man throwing a hissy fit out for blood (srs)

When me and the homies went to look at it we barely noticed it

**** was hilarious (srs)

Like I said, you don't need to go to the extremes of having a perfectly polished truck or whatever. But it's really nice to drive something that isn't a lliteral rust bucket around.

this is unfortunately true. Those old beater cars draw a lot of unwanted attention from law enforcement. Even if you're just driving it out of frugality. And don't let it be some kind of old crown vic or grand marquis, oh lawd

well the idea is to take care of your beater, old cars dont have to look like crap.

I know guys too that specifically buy used cars drive them for a year or two and flip them, they specifically pick out ones in near mint condition for a decent price. Even todays jacked up market you can still find them it just takes patience.

Drove a beater for 10 years, never had this problem.

Of course I didn't speed 15+ over, weaving through traffic either like a lot of people in my area.

I’ve had a 100k vehicle and I’m currently driving an almost 20 year old one with over 200k miles my family has had since new. I’ve had it almost 10 years now and it has a bunch of rust, but it’s been very reliable. My next paycheck is going to be a little over 25k and I prefer it this way. Weeds out pretentious kunts. Sad you judge everyone by what they drive

Wrong mentality, OP.

You’re probably the type to go to the gym to impress others.

An old used Camry, Town Car, Corolla or Prius with 150,000 miles when properly maintained will easily outlive brand new 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoner, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, or Volvo XC60 when properly maintained.

The secret to driving a beater is to not give a fuk and drive it like you stole it. All the better if it's got a manual transmission and the muffler's rusted off. Now I'm not talking about just a little "beat", I'm talking about seriously beat, fit for the crusher beat.

I hauled out plenty of shìtboxes out of peoples back yards and from wrecking yards and drove them hard. For a few months in my 20's I drove a rustbucket Datsun station wagon that was so rusted I had a piece of plywood covering a 1 foot diameter rust hole ahead of the drivers seat floor, and a Cruise-a-day boat gas tank sitting on the passenger side floor.

Fukking thing looked like this but was full of rust holes and pieces of bondo curling and hanging off it. I put some haywire on the bottoms of the fenders to keep them from flapping in the wind. A bungee cord or 2 kept the hood closed.

Once I was stuck in traffic while there was road construction and had to chit so I pulled the plywood up and chit through the rust hole and dropped a log onto the pavement and wiped my ass with some napkins that were in the glovebox.

When traffic started to move I looked in the rear view mirror and seen a massive turd laying on the highway, and a bunch of napkins blowing around in the wind.

Can't say it ever fukked with my self-esteem. I smashed sloots in that thing. The back seat folded down.

GOAT times.

Likewise my car is fine but the clear coat sucks, I noticed it happened to all cars of that model, they fooked it up from factory.

Anyway it kills me to look at it, fooking depressing.

It’s when the clearcoat starts peeling off and the body has rust holes when it starts getting depressing.

If you drive an older car and maintain the exterior its not bad at all.
