I always tell Muslims they're missing out. Like how can you not eat bacon. Some of them will say they have turkey bacon. I tell them that's like paying for a hooker vs having sex with someone who is infatuated with you. Also that hooker is a man.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Pigs are very clean and intelligent animals. It's unfortunate that they taste so good, because they make great pets.

Every animal does that. Even human babies will do it if they're not getting enough nutrition. A well fed and well maintained pig is cleaner than a dog.

Why is it unclean?
They are omnivores in the wild meaning they eat everything including scavenged meat. Animals that eat other animals are likely to have parasites. Black bear for example is an animal people like to eat but you have to be careful to cook it thoroughly to kill parasites. Farmed pigs don't really have that issue cause they just eat whatever humans give them. But in 3rd world countries, pigs are likely to carry parasites.

1500 years ago people would sometimes get really sick from eating pork, worse than salmonella or E.coli from chicken and beef. And getting intestinal worms from undercooked pork was more common. That's the mystery. It isn't Allah or Yahweh's wish. Thankfully farmers figured out how to prevent those higher chances since then.

Yeah to add, it's not just pig but animals that are carnivores are forbidden. Birds that hunt as well. Anything in the ocean is fine to eat though.

To really answer OP, it's because we believe God said so. That's it...we hear and we obey. Is the animal clean or unclean is irrelevant in reality.

Pork used to carry a ton of parasites and its one of the worst meats to get food poisoning from. The argument is that ruminant animals are better for your health and it does make me wonder sometimes

The Koran was basically a self help book in many ways. Think about it

Get up to pray at the same time most days = regular sleeping schedule
Washing before prayers = cleanliness
Praying 5 times a day = gratitude journaling, just less gay and more war like because you are on the hunt for war brides
Avoiding pork and shellfish = less chance of eating food that makes you sick

All kinds of rules and ways to live your life that are actually quite healthy. They even embrace polygamy

bacon is literally one of the worst things you can eat. full of saturated fats, nitrites/nitrates.

Pigs are scavengers that will eat almost anything, including corpses and human chit. This wasn't a problem in Europe, since it's covered with forests and peasants could let their pigs roam around and eat acorns, seeds, whatever. But in the Middle East, pigs typically lived much closer to people and survived by eating human trash. So Jews and Muslims got graphic up-close examples of pigs literally eating chit.

Animal fats are better than what most people consume now a days, ie seed oils.

You can buy bacon without nitrates or nitrites.

Herbivores will eat meat if they can find it. They just don't have the tools to eat it regularly.

It was a political decision, some other tribes they didnt like raised pigs and ate pork so slowly it got phased out then completely banned

Kinda like mask wearing and vaxx was politicized for years

Jews banned it first then muslims just copied the rule
