I know this one, if I drink for a couple of days...then for next 3 days I don't drink...I feel ok and relaxed...but after that boredom hits me and I end up drinking again...anyways if you want to prolong break days...try to smoke a cigarette or eat a heavy meal whenever you feel like drinking alcohol...

if you have no interests, project or a good hobby, you are fokked. Family is another good one, kids and wife. We live for someone, this is big part of meaning of life. Work is another good one.

When you have none of the above, your prospect of making changes are not good. Go and get drunk, try men etc, all good suggestions for you.

You’re going to have to find a daily hobby or something, and accept a bed time routine.

My dad’s friend was a bad alcoholic in his 30s. Wife divorced him to save his life. He was worse than ever for a few years after that. Angrily dragged to rehab by his brother and my uncle. 30 days later he thanked them for saving his life. Sober for 22 years. He went hunting. Had an O’duls during fish fries and stuff. Played golf. Then got into banking when the economy crashed and made loans to a lot of people that the govt bailed out minus him and bankers. Started drinking and ultimately walked to his porch and shot himself one night.

I’m sure it’s tough when it’s a part of your life for so long, but you’ll have to find something to do. Always remember there was a time when you naturally had fun never even knowing what booze tasted like. All that said I can’t imagine life without a beer either.

Get some hobbies. Go to the gym, play an instrument, get outside. Just find things that occupy your time and your mind so you arn't constantly thinking about drinking.

Not well tbh. I'm at about 4 months and it was only a couple of days ago that I lost my taste or desire for it. Prior to that I'd always daydream about hitting up a bar for a game. Not to mention everyone's always suggesting meeting up for beers. I just eat edibles on the weekends to pass the time at night. Gives me something to look forward to and at worst I'll get a pizza and sugary drinks to make up for not getting wasted with hot girls.
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

Sleep!

Actually can’t really feel dopamine anymore so living a 97% anhedonic life is the comeuppance I get for living a completely hedonistic lifestyle previously

Don’t have any real interests or desires except to stave off death, but even that seems more and more alluring as time passes

Hasn’t gotten any better after a year of sobriety, either, if anything I have less energy and motivation than at any point in my life

There has to be more to life than that. Plenty of people don’t drink and seem happy, but most have kids and a family. Everybody was mostly happy before ever drinking. Surely your brain can reset back to that after enough time where you wonder why you ever wanted to drink in the first place.

I think a bed time is key. I know my dad’s friend always went to bed at about 9 max and was up and ready to start the day super early. Most people drink at night when they’re bored.

Oh there is more, I just lack the ability to feel it anymore

I try to get to bed at a decent hour

I definitely do NOT want to drink, it actually makes me sick thinking about it, that’s how bad I got at the endI feel nauseous just remembering it

Sounds more like low grade depression. The brain usually balances itself out after a few months

You gotta find balance man

Truly I say to you, what you are calling sober boredom is indeed peace.

Don't fill the peace. Experience it.

Lol 'dopamine fasting' = loser incels trying to spin a boring, meaningless life like it's a good thing and beneficial.

If you're bored of mix drinks, take shots
If you're bored of shots, drink out of the flask
Bored of the flask? Drink straight out of the bottle

The boredom is the toughest part of sobriety.

Just have to relax and start slowly adding in stuff like the gym and walking around the block and stuff like that.

Takes a long while to get to a normal state of doing stuff.

Set some goals and start working towards them. Keeps the mind occupied.
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda
