why didn't the space shuttle take off like a normal airplane?

what was the point of doing a dangerous lift-off method? Was it just for show?

Why put the pilots under 7g's of force and endanger them with massive tanks of explosive fuel when you could just zip them horizontally down a runway and gain altitude at a slower pace? You wouldn't need all the reinforced materials anymore, either.

Because the wings didn't have enough lift to get it off the ground, and you can't fly into space after the air gets thin enough.

It was supposed to but the shuttle did a 360 and flew away
Best lifts:
Bench press: 315x5
Squat: 465x1
Strict press: 205x5
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

yeah lets use massive amounts of power instead of just gliding into space with a slight incline

its because the earth is flat and they would be miles away from the destination

Youre prob trolling but I dont think you can exits Earth's gravitational pull without a certain level of thrust and exit trajectory

airplanes need the air for lift and for their engines. the higher you get, you start running out of air. the escape velocity of earth is around 25,000 mph. you need a rocket with an internal fuel supply, not a 747. got to be all thrust.

Don’t worry bro, they had it all figured out back in the 60s and 70s. No need to go back or to try and recreate the technology. Besides, the original files were accidentally deleted
