So when does Elden Ring get good?
I'm at about 10 hours played and level 30 and I'm just running aimlessly through Stormveil Castle. Found myself fighting some big blob monster in what I guess is a Courtyard behind some rats. The fight is incredibly stupid as the monster clips through walls constantly and is janky as all fuk with his inferno explosion.
And after I died to him twice I found myself asking "when does this game become fun?"
So I ask you G&T. At what point does Elden Ring get fun? Or is just always a slogfest?

It's just difficulty porn for the kinda people who obsess over FromSoft. Either you enjoy the punishment or it's not for you. Their games have always been for the masochistic types that really take pride in their prowess at this one type of video game.

So yeah imo it's a good game but not amazing as most people say. You can experiment with different builds but the combat never really feels "next gen" or different to all the previous souls games. Also, I appreciate a good story and with all the hype about GRRM writing this game I really expected one....esp in a huge open world game that takes 100+ hours to beat. The last third of the game was a large difficulty spike and a massive slog to get through and by the time I was at the end I really had no sense of why I'm even here, fighting a final boss I'm seeing for the very first time who did nothing to antagonize me for the entire journey leading up to that moment. Sorry if that's a spoiler but I felt no sense of accomplishment finishing the game other than the fact that I beat a very difficult boss... Something I already did 50+ times before lol.

The enjoyment is in thechallengeOP. FromSoft games are pretty unforgiving and you will die a lot. If you don’t derive enjoyment from that sorta thing then you’ll struggle to appreciate the game.

Cool that people love such games, but just not for me(trial and error). I am done with that stage of my gaming life.
I tried Demon Souls back then in PS3 and not for me. So maybe it is not for you as well?

SoulsBorne games are all about pattern recognition, timing and developing quick reactions. I think racers, fighting games and FPS titles also reward similar skills. This kinda thing really suits me, but it may not suit you.
I never developed a taste of RTS games, because the skill set just isn’t my cup of tea and I felt no inclination to get good.

I thought it was interesting, but after I beat that grafter guy I quit. Game has no story and no real progression.

Few tips
1. Anything without a boss health bar can be avoided. You can literally sprint past most enemies.
2. Vigor is the most important stat to level at first. The soft cap is 40. I'd go 2/1 ratio of vigor and whatever other stat you want
3. Weapon levels buff your stats faster than attribute point. Get smithing stones and upgrade your weapons regularly.
4. Don't rush straight for the main bosses. You can find great items and level up a lot form just exploring and finding chit. Take your time
5. Early game, southern Limgrave will be great for leveling. Don't know if you've been already, but definitely scour that area for some upgrades.
6. If you haven't already, return to the Church of Elleh to get a very helpful item for bosses.
7. If you're having trouble, summon people to help out. Co op is a fun time.
8. Your first 'soulslike' game is usually the hardest. There's a point in which everything just clicks, and things get much easier. It'll still beat your ass sometimes, but not NEARLY as often.
9. Last, but not least; git gud
Everything went to chit, items and NPC's give you bits of lore, and you're out to kill a God and fix chit.

The thing you are fighting I don't think you are supposed to fight that early.
If you are stuck, turn around and go finish storm veil, you can come back and fight that later.
