Why are Puerto Ricans so proud?

Every Puerto Rican I ever met brags about how great Puerto Rico is and boasts of how proud they are to be Puerto Rican….. For a group of people who never really accomplished anything noteworthy why are they so prideful?

Do the schools in Puerto Rico teach some alternate version of reality where Puerto Rico is the greatest country to ever exist?

Puerto Ricans literally look down on you if you’re not from their insignificant island.

Help me understand why they behave this way

Nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage. Don’t really get the looking down on others aspect(and never experienced that from Puerto Ricans), but I always look to see different cultures appreciate their heritage. And not in the Google “celebrate every single demographic except whites” kind of way. Just the way that gives people a healthy sense of identity.



That being said, yeah…not really sure what PR has done, other than successfully become a U.S. territory.

Have you seen the other islands in the Caribbean?

They get all the benefits of being a first world citizen while living in a tropical paradise, without all the worries about political instability, murder, cartels, usual banana republic chit.

I don’t know OP. They’re also notorious for looking down at other Latino countries for some reason.

A main reason is that they can travel freely to the US mainland, which is funny because the only reason that happened was that they were conquered completely. Not sure how that’s brag worthy.

Because they retained more white(spaniard) genes in Puerto Rico than many of the other latino islands.

They literally get citizenship for just being born there while other Latinos die trying to reach the US. Why shouldn't they be proud ?

Beautiful island but filled with degen people and an incredibly high murder rate...definitely not on the New Orleans, Baltimore, or Colima, MX level, but still a very high murder rate.

The USA fuked that island up bigtime.

Been to Puerto Rico earlier this year and it was incredible. Great people and the island itself was beautiful.

Now Haiti is another story.
