Is this weird or nah?

I had an acquaintance who had a pet basset hound.

It was getting old, so he asked me when the time came if I would skin it and tan the hide so he could use it as a motorcycle seat cover.

I declined

Dude was from Britain and managed the affairs of a wealthy family here.

Weirded me out. Is that a normal thing over there?

Yeah, that's weird and obsessive af. If the deceased pet really meant that much to someone, have the vet get it cremated and bury the ashes in the yard like a halfway normal person. Carrying around a trophy of your dead pet's carcass sounds like a Family Guy skit.

Super weird, unless the dog had a dying wish to be made into a motorcycle seat cover.

This.

I always think of taxidermy as being used to make a “trophy” out of a great kill from a hunt or an awesome fish that was caught. Pets are like members of the family so it seems weird as fukk to do something like that. Granted, that’s not quite on the taxidermy level since it wouldn’t be in its original form but still seems very odd. I think it’s weird enough when people get their pets cremated and keep the ashes. Just lol at riding around on the skin from your homeboy.

Yes it is since basset Hounds are tri-colored. I can't picture a motorcycle paint job it would jive with and the hair would start slipping fairly quickly if he actually rides it.

I did have an old guy ask me to put down his old dog. Dude was Iike 90 and broke.

I declined. It's all fine till you end up on ******** for animal cruelty.

I think his grandson paid to have it put down.

And brit fido Dahmer went back overseas. Haven't heard from him in a while now.

Dogs shed all the time. We harvest wild fur when it's prime, so it doesn't slip and fall out.

I dunno how it would work lol

yeah its fuking wierd.I got one that you might especially like OP. My Grandpa has trophies for having raised the best mink coats in the country. And when he died my died or whoever had his ashes put in the actual trophies somehow. My uncle didnt know about it and now hes pissed at my dad cause he didnt know about it or whatever. Now they probably want to fight about these mink trophies with their dad in it. Some people are wierd and just let it go. Glad i wasnt part of killing mink. Those little bastards are mean as hell. still got the mink cages i used to grow weed in. nothing gets in those the first month.

Im a big fan of taxidermy and alternative uses of animals, but something you sit your butt on is a little weird. Not only that, but wont it get all worn out like a car seat getting on and off, farting on your dead best friend, ect.

Probably the right choice.

It sounds bad, but cleaning up the feral cats can also be a good thing.

It is said that over 2 billion song birds are killed a year by feral cats. Our cats, our problem I suppose.

A long time ago the fur auction house in North Bay received a boarded and dried mutt dog hide in a pile of Coyote and wolf hides. Was in a bunch of furs from a native reserve. The assumption and now famous story goes that a native fella skinned a feral rez mutt and sent it in as a joke.

Story makes me lol
