Just watched Inglorious Basterds for the first time

Crazy how savage the Nazis were. Did they really just go hunting jews and execute them on the spot like they did in the opening scene? Shot them through the floorboards like it was nothing.

Has any miscer been to those camps? would love to know the down-low on the logistics of it being capable of being done on such a mass scale.

also the smell...wouldn't the general public smell burning flesh in the air all the time.
