Cant speak for the other options but I have a 1999 4runner with 264k miles on it (bought it at 150k) and it is still doing great. Its easy to maintain and find parts for, can't say I've needed any major work done, and an easy car to learn how to take care of yourself. Its spacious enough for long trips, comfortable for commuting, and has done well off road and in the snow. If you get yourself a mid 2010s or newer you'll be in good shape for a long time.

Lol, the only one of those that looks bad ass is the 4Runner, which is also as reliable as an anvil. They are just awful to drive due to the 4L/5-speed. I bought a 2020 Pro 4Runner for my wife, and it collected dust since she preferred driving my truck.
Should have bought her a Lexus GX460 instead, which is what you should be looking at instead of a 4Runner and those teenage girl SUV's.
GX has bulletproof V8, amazing off road ability, super comfortable on road, great space, and will last forever.

Mazda is reliable, not even close to mogging. Toyota 4runners have excellent reputations. Would avoid Acura, Honda is overpriced imo. Gf drive an NX300, horrible blind spots. Looks mogging from the outside. Very small interior tho. Seems like it was built for tiny women
4 runner is the most mog on the list, and I'm not a fanboy of any.

Why's your budget so high? Are you following Visel's approved guidelines?
- If you have lots of debt outside of a mortgage. Drive solely vehicles worth $15k or less. Pay them off if debt is involved.
- If you're debt free, and below $200k net worth, your "vehicle sum total" (all vehicles combined) should not exceed 30% of your take home salary.
- If you're debt free, and above $200k net worth, your "vehicle sum total" (all vehicles combined) should not exceed 50% of your take home salary.
You must be rich OP I'm jealous. I'm still satisfied with my $19k-at-the-time '18 Camry.

The SRT is a totally different beast and one of the coolest rigs on the road. Not the most reliable model compared to anything Toyota / Lexus, but genuinely bad ass. I owned my old 2014 Jeep SRT for 7 years and almost 80K trouble free miles, and replaced it with a 2020 with currently over 30K trouble free miles.

From what i understand the Lexus GX series is a better version of the 4 runner.
edit: specifically with quality of some parts...some say its a glorified 4runner but i dunno. i bet they make them slightly better quality.

op 4 runner will last you a long time.
/end thread.
If you get anything else but a 4runner in your price range you dun gooofffeedd..
40k is way to much for a car. i d rather get a beater for 10k or less and put some work in it. thats just me.

also planning to upgrade from sedan to a large crossover or 3 row SUV but not full size, looking at used CPO cayennes, X5, mazda cx 90, audi q7.
i like driving sedans but def getting smaller for my needs.

acura mdx > rdx, but i think that's probably already out of the ~40k price range
never really liked toyota, though 4runner is a good suv. rav4 hybrid is also a good choice.
mazda cx5 is a really good suv (might be getting refreshed next year), but it's not the best on fuel economy. otherwise it offers way more luxury and has better looks vs its competition. not the best if you got a newborn. cx90 is also nice, but big. they're also doing the cx70 reveal next week, which is supposed to be a 2 row version of the cx90, so it might be cheaper.
lexus nx is an ok car too, though i'd pick the rx over it, which is almost 50k.
hyundai has some decent suv's as well if you want to stick with the same brand as your current car.
