MrPissShivers, you ever see this movie?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eegah
Eegah
Supposedly it's ranked as one of the worst movies ever.
It has Richard Kiel in it. I thought it's something that maybe you enjoy in a campy sort of way.

I found this movie to be interesting in that it seems the writer/director Arch Hall Sr. was trying to capitalize on the success of Elvis movies by making a series films with sporadic musical numbers starring his son.
The movie certainly has its problems and it does drag a lot in the middle and if the movie was expedited and brought down to a 70 minute runtime, you'd have a much better film. But even as it is I don't quite see the criticism it receives as one of the worst movies ever, as I've seen much worse.

Shivers can you recommend some good movies that are a must see pre-2000's. Something in mystery, drama, sci-fi, and documentary ..that are lesser known?
I feel like you or someone had a thread similar with good older recommendations, but can't find it. It doesn't have to limited to Netflix, Tubi, etc. Just some must-see's.

Here is my Italian Exploitation thread though I doubt many would be interested in it as they are a very specific niche:

I'd have to start by mentioning that its hard to determine what "lesser known" means to anyone these days, so I'll suggest movies from beginning in 30's- 40's that may not be lesser known to someone like Kimm4, but may be to others who aren't as familiar with movies of that era.
I'll stay away from some of the more schlocky movies I love and stay with the more mainstream stuff, but if this isn't obscure enough I can go a little deeper upon request.
--------------
The Thin Man (1934)...this movie spawned a number of sequels some better than others. If you watch and like this one you may wish to continue.
The Maltese Falcon (1941) This is an example of a movie thats not lesser known but not everyone these days has seen it and they ought to.
Double Indemnity (1944) Another film noir staple that should be seen by fans of the genre. It stars Barbara Stanwyck one of my favorite actors ever and almost anything she's in is worth watching.
Rope (1948) A bit lesser know for a Hitchcock movie about a couple of gay guys that try to commit the perfect murder.
The Third Man (1949) A must see with a score that makes the movie feel strangely modern.
Sunset Blvd (1950) One of my favorite movies ever...A Hollywood set film noir. I love it.
The Fly (1958) A great early sci-fi with Vincent Price about a science experiment gone wrong.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) A classic of the sci-fi genre. I also recommend the 1978 remake equally.
Murder by Decree (1979) This is a Sherlock Holmes movie starring Christopher Plumber where Holmes goes after Jack the Ripper.
Body Double (1984) Brain De Palma's take on Rear Window, see Rear Window as well if you haven't.
Manhunter (1986) The first adaption of the Red Dragon novel with Brain Cox as Lecter. Some like his portrayal as much or more than Hopkins.
Dark City (1998) This is a pretty great sci-fi mystery
Breakdown (1997) A great somewhat lesser known Kurt Russell film.
Joint Security Area (2000) A great Korean film.
Memories of Murder (2003) another great Korean murder mystery.
Hands on a Hardbody (1997) is a documentary about a redneck competition to win a car.

btw, The Thin Man is a product of its time so it will seem dated. Its every bit a screwball comedy as much as a mystery, so its not ominous in tone. If ominous is what you want from an early film you could also check out M (1931)
