Is being a mortgagecel worse than being a rentcel
Mortgage payment = rent + laughable amount of equity
Foreclosure = eviction + losing your life's savings
The difference is once you become a mortgagecel, you've essentially signed a contract to be a wagie for the next 25 years. You've essentially agreed to be a slave for a quarter of a century. All the schlomos at the bank are rubbing their hands Jewishly as they put the wagie collar around your neck
Not to mention all the time you have to spend on maintenance and upkeep to make your home not a shythole. Between wagecucking and maintenance, you barely have time to do your own thing. And once you throw kids into the equation, it's over

Anyone buying a house right now instead of renting is financially illiterate

Mortgage = half the price of rent + 100% equity after 30 years + inflation, locked in at today's prices for the next 30 years.
Rent = pay double, or live in a roach motel and invest the difference lol. 0% equity ever, prices go up every year so you don't get to ignore the next 30 years worth of inflation.
Which one's better?

"Mortgagecel" is communist rhetoric. You a commie, op?
One party system; Most Republicans are Democrats, but no Democrats are Republicans.
Hayek and Mises were right; they're all socialists.

Rent is not free, so the rentard is slaving away with nothing to show. That is the definition of slavery (working without benefiting). The landChad is working for the investment, more freedom, and the greater chance that he doesn't have to live near rentards and all the problems that they bring.
LandChad provides his offspring with a real home, stability, and love. The rentard only provides for his kids via garnished child support and his kids grow up in another rental, while mom has to turn tricks to pay the rent. They cause the cycle of degerancy to continue.

Now take the amount of equity you gain and compare that to if you had rented and invested the leftovers. You gain your equity by investing the difference. If your down payment is 100k, that's conservatively ~105k next year
Real estate is a hedge against inflation but so is compounding returns in the market. In theory your returns outpace inflation
There's also the issue of diversification...

I know I know, you and your 4 kids are going to rent a 1BR tiny house aka shack for $1500 and invest the same amount.

If you make a true apples to apples comparison (this is where most go wrong), it's financially a wash. They're the same - there's no free lunch anywhere.
So it becomes a matter of personal preference. Expect to move around a lot? Renting is probably better. Value stability, freedom to modify your property etc? Owning is likely better.
It's true there are a lot of "hidden" or lumpy costs of home ownership that owners tend to ignore/neglect but you do pay one way or the other (a neglected property will be worth less). However most people lack self control and rather than prudently invest the difference in monthly costs, they spend it resulting in renters on average being much poorer than owners who at least have the forced savings program of a mortgage.

lol if you do either. Tents from Academy Sports and Outdoors cost $40 and you're done. You think our ancestors needed more than this?
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Lol, look at how many rich folks rent vs. own. Rich folks own, and let other folks money make them money.
The rare folks who do rent that are rich, they are grossly overpaying rent to someone who is WEALTHY (#Chrisrock).
Or maybe rentcells are right, and all the foreign investors and conglomerates buying up all the residential real estate are doing it wrong.
