Who wants to do a 48 hour fast with me?

I started last night at 5pm. I’m allowing tea, coffee, seltzer. Anyone? It’s muscle sparing.

Did 72 hrs with my brother a few weeks back. Easy peasy, we just texted each other for accountability.

Ate late yesterday around 9 so won’t be joining this time. Will prob do 18 or so today.

My goal is two 48 hour fasts a week. I’m going to have a magnesium drink every night as well.

I've been doing IF again for the past 2.5 weeks. Whats your schedule like? I'm doing 17:7. 7pm cut off with nothing again until 12 the next day. I only eat twice per day, 12 in the afternoon and 6 in the evening. Mainly beef, dairy & eggs.

A lot of people won’t fast because they’re worried about burning muscle, but this is not the case with a 48 hour fast which in my opinion is ideal because after 36 hours you tap into the fat stores only. You also release human growth hormone, and there’s a ton of health benefits, but nobody has to worry about losing muscle on a 48 .

What would a non muscle sparing fast be? Longer than 48?

From what I’ve heard after 48 you could be facing a little bit of muscle wasting, but before 48 hours you shouldn’t have to worry about it. Someone who knows more about this than me could probably correct me on this if I’m wrong.

Not going to do it, but I'm always amazed people can sleep while extended fasting. It hypes me up so much that it feels like I'm fully caffeinated the whole time.

My feeding window is 1-8pm, anything goes in between although I am considering cutting carbs significantly full time. Beef dairy and eggs are a fantastic combo brah. You must feel like a machine by now.

That’s why I’m taking the magnesium drink at night. It’s called Calm. I think it’s like 10 calories.

That's okay, whatever gets you through it. You still got the benefits.

Here's some hunger hacks I use:

- 1/4 tsp of cinnamon in my coffee. It helps to suppress the appetite by stabilizing blood sugar levels .

- 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar in a glass of water.

- Take a long nap if you can.

- If I'm feeling like sh*t I take a couple of sips of pickle or olive juice. Only sips because any more will make me feel nauseous.

I thought that was kinda cheating either way I don't see myself going over 24 hours.

and plus I almost fainted once I was boxing on an empty stomach the whole day and didn't work out so good.

Are you low-ish body fat? Boxing takes a lot out of you (my brother did it) and I can see that happening. The answer is electrolytes / salt water. I see why the Red Bull was necessary. If you need little tools (other than food or high calorie drinks) to get you through it I do not consider it cheating. If someone would otherwise bail completely on it, use those little crutches I say.

Yea brah its going good so far. Thats my normal eating habits for the most part, but for about 6 months prior to this I wasn't training properly and my diet was a mess. Eating w/e the fuk I wanted, sweets, chocolate, cola etc. Past 2.5 weeks have been strict with very few carbs, 4 litres of water per day & training 6 times a week. Fairly noticing the difference already. If you're doing IF you're best off cutting carbs back and upping beef intake in place. It'll help you stay full for longer and allow you to stretch your fasting duration.

24 hour fast on the weekends crew for the last 2 years. When you get to hour 20, go for a run. A mile or two in you'll feel your body empty every ounce of glycogen it has to complete the run. That post run fully depleted fasted high...hnggggg

I think after 7 days there's declining benefits and it can actually be counter productive. I'd rather do shorter, consistent ones, longer term.

Yum! That sounds so good.

While 48 hours is a lot easier than a 5 day fast, the 2nd day in is always the hardest where I'm most hungry. So 48 hour fasts are tough. I may do one every week. Prob same Sunday night to Tuesday night.
