ITT: Did some more t-bar rows this week. Sickening DOMS of peace (lifters GTFIH)

How's everyone's back training this week? I aim to do my pull days right at the beginning of the week but it got pushed to mid-week this week. Feeling it pretty good today. Love me some heavy brutal t-bar rows.

Will spread reps around to lifters ITT like you might spread them cheeks and tongue-punch the fart trumpet.

Beast exercise. I love them.

I only do them if there's a T-bar row machine though. I tried to do it with just the olympic bar on the floor method, but I didn't think to anchor down the opposite end of the olympic bar. When I lifted the weight the bar flung right up into my balls.

Never again. Plus, some gym staff get annoyed at people doing it, claiming it bends the bars.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

Not a fan. Feels a bit too much in my biceps

Prefer just about every other row over them. Barbell, dumbell, cable, machine

I've only ever done it with just the olympic bar on the floor. I get what you're saying, but there's definitely a concrete fix to that. Evidently, the bar shouldn't swing up and sack you. Stick the bar into a corner, like in the corner of a power rack. Where you stand above the bar will impact the gravity of the bar too. You don't want to be too far back from the plate. You want to be quite close to the plate so you're rowing into your stomach. If that makes sense.

Great feeling of power from this exercise. Standing there winded, panting, and sweaty afterwards is a great feeling.

I'll switch up my row movement over time. T-bar rows, bent over rows, bent over rows underhanded, pendlay rows, etc. Pendlay rows are pretty brutal too. I've never tried seal rows but they look like a lot of fun. I'm not too set up for those, unfortunately. Someone here recommended the landmine variation of t-bar rows and it's something I'd like to try out for sure.

Back DOMS? I've only ever had them in my legs. Heavy t-bar rows are goat though.

Oh yeah, in my old gym there were special attachments for them in the corners of the squat racks. This happened at the gym I was at before that one, over a decade ago.

Because stupid kuntfhag me was oblivious to the physics of leverage.

I've gotten leg DOMS from exercises like deadlifts and rack pulls but never rows. It's pretty localized to lats. Are you using your legs too much when rowing?

I'm still limited to my storage room gym for now, but I usually do BB/DB rows to get a back pump.

This years I'm really gonna focus on Time Under Tension and Form vs Intensity and see how this cut/recomp turns out.

Strangely enough the worst back doms I got was from boxing drills lol.

I was just talking about muscle groups in general not from doing t-bar rows. I've only ever had doms in my legs, every other group is sore the same or next day.

That's really what I've been doing in the past 5 years or so. I've dropped a good amount of weight, am sitting in a different lighter weight class, and focusing more on ROM, flexibility, and general well-being rather than pushing as much weight as possible. I definitely feel a lot better. More limber and young-feeling. Hard to put into words but it feels nice. I'd recommend it, I think your plan is a good one. Best of luck.

One machine I miss above all else is the old school nautilus pullover machine. I used to train in a commercial gym that was an old school bodybuilding gym with all those old nautilus machines and that one was my favorite.

On spread as well!

Ha ha..... the current gym location has that machine ,albeit made by another company, and that is how i begin back training sessions each and every back day.
Placing and pushing with the elbows is a learning curve but i got it down.
And at the bottom of the movement you must push an *extra 2 inches past* your normal stopping point.

Heavy t-bar rows w/a landmine are great. If you want to see good form to emulate, check out some of Jason Lowe's videos doing them.

Did Pendlays today. Love rows and I try to mix in an explosive variation pretty regularly. I always forget about t-bars, but I have a landmine and I should really give them a try sometime.

I was a big fan of Dorian Yates' routine back in the day and delved into the world of Mike Mentzer's high intensity approach. Much of what I do now is based on that philosophy. I remember my very first training routine I ever tried was german volume training. I had a gym teacher in college helping me out and she recommended that. brb 10 super sets of decline press/lat pulldown, monopolizing both machines for a while. I'd have been pissed at me too back then. You live, you learn. Now, my training is much briefer and quite intense.

Yesterday's pull day was weighted chins, t-bar rows, and rack pulls. Biceps at the end.
