What on earth? I lived in Springs/Denver between 1998 and 2000, and both cities were incredibly beautiful. It's disheartening to see what has happened since.

The thing is, Denver isn't California. It isn't that great of a place to live, and most people who live there aren't originally from there, so if it goes to hell there isn't some group who necessarily will stick around and make sure it comes back.

Gavin Newsom did not prove chit. They didn't house the homeless or give any kind of fix for SF-- he simply moved all the homeless to another neighborhood for a few days while Xi Xin Ping (sp?) Visited some conference downtown. As soon as he left the homeless just moved right back to where they were.

The best example is Mississippi who actually built cheap homes for the homeless in their state. It's way cheaper in the long run compared to giving them the extra medical care they'll need on the street and cleaning up their chit, and way way cheaper than putting them in jails and such. Most of them were mentally ill before becoming drug addicts and there is no going back to a normal life IMO. I am no socialist but I do believe they need to be given homes and taken care of, preferably far away from the cities. Where it would be cheaper and hard for them to come back.

Most of the money in a city is in the suburbs. Even most employment is in the suburbs now. Inner cities are starting to become dumpsters for losers. I know here in GA, the democrats main goal is to try to get more of the funding into inner Atlanta.
