No word on performance yet?
Don't most games on Capcom run on that RE engine, which does a variety of modes. Hopefully Capcom says something soon though.
I feel like this is one game I'd rather play at 60 fps, so might be pc for me too.

Oof. Why spend $500 on a chitbox when you could have bought a 3080 for $700ish?

As excited as I was when Dragon's Dogma 2 was announced, and as someone who's been playing/modding Monster Hunter World, I'm staying the fück away from this one because Capcom's been up to some real, proper bullshít lately.
- Adding more and more cosmetic DLC to games based entirely around your gear and how you look (Monster Hunter Rise)*.
- Stack their own shítty DRM on top of Denuvo because "fück your performance," so don't think for a second that they give a damn about consoles being stuck at 30fps.
- Equated all modding to cheating*- Adding sketchy, Russian drm to 10 year old games that have already been cracked and break mods, some of which are actually required to run because (A) Capcom is literally retarded, and even breaking Steam Deck support because (A) and (B), Capcom gives zero fücks about how good your game runs, or if it runs at all, once they have your cash.
*Capcom has been easing their way into DLC hell like a drunk Hollywood executive hitting on a minor, and they're obviously "concerned" when a modder can do their job and offer something far better for free. The perfect example is their Street Fighter Spy X Family Yor versus the modders:
Spoiler!
This is a so-called "professional" AAA developer putting out paid content that looks like they found Blender plugin to somehow give the model an extra chromosome.
Equally important to note is how Capcom loves to make their games so goddamn grindy and full of Las Vegas level rng. I mean holy shít, Monster Hunter isunbearable without quality of life mods to adjust drop rates and quantities. I seriously have no idea how people can even play these kind of games on console because they might as well be gacha simulators, and I expect Dragon's Dogma 2 to be no different.
Then you have straight up insanity like this:
Dragon's Dogma 2's reportedly runs on 30 FPS on consoles according to Japanese Insider. (Rumour)
Game is confirmed (by IGN Japan) to feature only 1 save slot, auto and manual share the same slot.
As someone who had to troubleshoot MHW's save corruption/save failure bullshít for several weeks,fückall that, and at least Icouldeventually fix it being on PC; you'd pretty much be SOL on console.
Want to try a new character or a different build? Nope. Gotta delete your save. The cynic in me has to wonder if they were contemplating charging for more save slots.
I'll just wait to see if it gets (1) a modding scene, (2) if Capcom truly is serious about screwing up all the goodwill they built up, and if so, (3) if it gets cracked. Capcom was starting to turn around to be a good publisher again, too.
Believe it or not (because I sure didn't), Capcom considersPC to be their main platform. Although in light of everything I said above, it doesn't exactly bode well when they disregard performance on their "main" platform, so the consoles might not ever see a performance mode unless there's a PS5 Pro/Xbox Series Z.5 patch.
On top of that, Capcom had showed offNvidia DLSS 3.0 with Super Resolution and Frame Generation, but no announcement that I could see for FSR, which is what consoles use.
Hard agree on the pathetic state all of these games are releasing in these days. You'd have to be a masochist to pay$60$60$70just to be a beta tester gambling on whether the company will ever get around to fixing their games.
When they release with poor performance, the company has made their money and doesn't even have to bother improving, but especially with how stringent consoles are for returns.

^^ crazy to see you lay out the state of their recent releases and at some point not too long ago I was considering an open world game like MH World but something made me decide against it. I've seen some footage of Dragon's Dogma 2 and the first thing that came to mind was performance and patches. This seems like it's gonna be one of those games that isn't stable for a long time. I just cannot fathom this game not being built from the ground up with performance mode in mind. There's so much happening in battles with all the companions and enemies, playing at 30 will be an absolute slog. Hopefully this affects sales on consoles as the word spreads so these idiots can finally learn their lesson but I'm guessing not.

Hell, even I'm actively making mods for it becausemystance is "fückCapcomfor trying to tell me what I can do with the game I paid for."^^ crazy to see you lay out the state of their recent releases and at some point not too long ago I was considering an open world game like MH World but something made me decide against it. There's also the full blownICE community rework project, while something I haven't yet tried myself, I can attest to the talent, dedication, and ongoing work on it being familiar with some of those working on it.
In contrast, I don't think Monster Hunter Rise really has the same amount of, shall we say, care. Firstly because it released later, second because it's still a Switch port and kind of looks like it even with the technically improved graphics, and lastly because I don't know if as many people actually like it, anyways.
For example, a common critique I have seen is how they removed a lot of the impact and "oomph" feedback that makes it less satisfying. MH: Rise is also when they beganlocking armors behind DLC paywalls, when this is a series (like Dragon's Dogma or most action/RPG games) where part of the reward and progression is your equipment and how you look.
At least with Monster Hunter World/Iceborne, none of the DLC felt like worthwhile content was withheld. However, if they are willing to go all Ubisoft in a series where the entire point is killing monsters to harvest their hides/pelts/talons/bones/ect. to make bigger and badder weapons and armor, then I have zero faith in them tonotmonetize the shít out of all future games, including Dragon's Dogma 2, to the point that they are now crossing the line of taking out actual content for the worse.
I'll be real honest here, too, I would beperfectlyhappy paying forrealDLC expansions that provide legitimate content to a game, but this cosmetic DLC shít has been creeping into games and making them worse off as a whole. It quickly goes from mere cosmetics to where the base game is intentionally designed around being less appealing than the extra paid options, and just as bad, it's not like they're implemented organically like the rest of the game's content. Although I guess in the Street Fighter Spy X Family crossover example, the whole damn package is just so slipshod and embarrassing that it speaks to the level of quality Capcom is willing to put out and charge for.

In a response, they've been addingEnigma DRM, the sketchy Russian DRM I mentioned earlier, to games as old as Resident Evil Revelations, 5, and 6, (which broke it) and Monster Hunter Rise (which was also broken on Linux/Steam Deck and overall killing performance).
There is definitely a lot of copium being huffed that all of that wasn't with the express purpose to kill off modding, and naturally the most experienced modders who are already familiar with these games can work faster (and better) than the game company. However, we can't say the same forfuturegames like Dragon's Dogma 2, so it's a far safer bet to just wait and see before assuming that whatever Capcom has cooking can be fixed independently.
Other than that, though, I agree that in the end the PC version will still be better and at least not be completely locked down in terms of graphical options and performance.

While I'll never trust Crapcom again, I hope PCcels fight the odds and actually get a decent port.
Even on Xbox, this game is sounding pretty sketchy though.
