Does anyone else here not follow sports?

I used to follow sports when I was a lot younger due to my Dad's influence, but over time I fell out of it. It amazes me just how strongly people follow them, and how they can seemingly go on for hours about it. I think maybe 20% of the cars on the road, people paid extra to have a football team LP on their cars.

Used to have season tickets for new York redbull

Idk I just am bored to tears watching sports now. I don't have hours to sit around and watch other people do stuff, esp for some of these boring ass sports like football and baseball

I generally don't unless there's nothing better to do. But I did watch some NFL this year due to poor weather. Mostly watched other stuff but would flick in now and then.

When I was younger I could tell you the name of every player on every team, who was on the injury report, who they were dating, what their favorite color was. Glad I'm not that stupid anymore.

I tune in for the NBA finals and for the all star game, but other than that I don't really care unless Toronto miraculously makes the playoffs.

Iโ€™m in fantasy football and basketball leagues. Our group chats are fun and lively with trash talk etc.

I used to love basketball but now find it practically unwatchable during the regular season although I do enjoy the playoffs.

I never used to watch football as a kid but my friends got me into it a couple years ago and I like it now.

Sports is something my friends and I bond over and kinda gives us a reason to get together.

I know most miscers have never had a friends or a friends group so itโ€™s hard to understand.

I have my favorite teams in a few sports but don't watch religiously. I do enjoy talking **** to friends when my team beats their teams though for the LOLs since they care a million times more than I do heh

For basic social interaction skills I pay attention to everything. Truthfully though I really do not give a sh*t about most of it. I used to care a lot in my early to mid 20s but the older I get the less I dgaf.

Still important to be able to talk about it on a basic level though. The reality is it's a massive part of society that's really ingrained. To ignore it would be foolish.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Nah I couldn't care less. Only time I'll actually watch sports is when there's a big event like the superbowl or world cup, etc and even then idgaf.

I do enjoy going to stadiums to watch a game and get drunk though, but it's for the social aspect.

This, 100%.

I went full blown autist over the NFL in the exact same way lol. Iโ€™d take off work for the draft, memorize the playersโ€™ stats, planned my sundays around the games, etc. Iโ€™m more disgusted by my NFL watching days over my p0rn watching days, lol. It is pretty silly the more I think about it. Wearing the name of some other dude on your back and arguing with people over sh!t that means nothing.

This old guy at my job canโ€™t stop asking me if I watched the game on Sundays. Every fukking time Iโ€™ve told him โ€œnoโ€ and yet he feels the need to go off on how the refs screwed his team over or how โ€œitโ€™s gonna be a gooooood weekโ€ every time the cowboys won. Fukking kill me.

I haven't followed sports in a long time, ever since it became politicized / agenda pushing garbage, it's been like this for years. I remember the NBA was great for most of the 90s, then it started turning ghetto in the late 90s and it was kinda' downhill from there, it's completely unwatchable now.

DVRs and douche bag prima-Donna athletes ruined most sports for me. I do enjoy the Olympics though. But theyโ€™re even sketchy.

Russian athletes caught in large scale cheating? Ok, cool, keep competing, weโ€™ll just call you guys something else this time around.

Don't follow any, I'll watch my hometeams play every now and then, but only when I catch it in a restaurant/bar..Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears.

The only sport like event I really enjoy watching is the Tour de France which is odd because I don't cycle, and fuking hate cyclists, dedfukinsrs. Just like watching the tour for some reason.

Same. I played and watched a lot of sports as a kid, basically stopped watching when I went to college except for the Super Bowl. Other than that I'll catch part of a few games of something a year as background while drinking with friends or family.

On my own, I watch/follow absolutely 0 sports. I understand them, know most of the rules and chit, but I have no idea what's going on with any of them.

Ill watch something, usually football/baseball/soccer......if it's on when we're hanging out with other people, but on my own I just don't give a fuk about any of it......and this is coming from someone who played basketball and football at collegiate levels and have friend groups/group texts that almost exclusively talk sports.

I'm down AF to go to a game though....usually make it to a few minor league baseball games a year.

I was going to NFL games 5+ years ago which was fun but also expensive. I couldn't give two chits about sports these days, though. I tried to tune in to the Lions game and only watched two plays before I stopped watching.
Your schtick sucks and it screams insecurity.

Not being a sports nut is one of the most beneficial steps a man can make. Usually there is a correlation between how big a fan someone is, and how little they have going on in their own life. Reason why being a die hard fan is pathetic:

- the bad almost always outweighs the good. Every season 1 fanbase ends up happy, a few others end up maybe content, but the rest are miserable to sad
- You are cheering accomplishments that you took zero part in - your team won the Super Bowl. Congrats! You did absolutely nothing to help with that
- You put other men above you - Any diehard fan worships pro athletes who dont give 2 chits about them. Thats fine as a kid, but being an adult and wearing another mans name on your back is pathetic
- it's a commercial product meant to get you to consoooom - when you get older the more you realize pro sports is just a product like anything else with the goal to seperate you from your money
- You lose your free time - weekends and evenings are not dedicated to you watching others instead of focusing on yourself
- You are getting emotionally upset over something you have ZERO control over - If I lose a triathlon I have things I can work on to better myself. If my team loses in the playoffs then what? You are stuck with a crappy feeling and no recourse

Now Im not saying dont watch sports as all. Major events, watching the game with the boys, knowing sports basics for small talk, etc. all have their place. But you should spend significantly more time playing sports than watching others play sports if you want to live a meaningful life
