Store manager chases after couple who stole Nuttela jar. Gets stabbed.
Happened in Australia. Store manager chases down couple who stole a jar of Nutella and gets stabbed for his troubles. This is why if you work in retail, food service etc. you never get confrontational with the public and definitely why store staff are instructed to just let thieves be on their way for police to deal with later.
You can really be gambling with your life if you try and get physical with a random member of the public, all this over a fuggin' jar of Nutella.
Hope the dude is OK. Also, makes me ever so grateful that I can make my money without ever having to interact with the public. Fck that!
Back off, Warchild.
Seriously.

This is an independently owned supermarket so maybe that is why the store manager took it personally.

While the managers actions were idiotic I've always found if hard to be angry at someone when they either feel they are doing the right thing or actually are doing the right thing in principle but just not in reality and common sense.
Poor fool either had good intentions but just didn' know any better or he is one of those citizen arrest type morons.
Either way hopefully he pulls through.

I'm actually on the couple's side. I thought they stole that whole cart of groceries. Turns out they just took a nuttella jar. LOL.
What's that, like $15?
At the most, if you can get the item back, that's probably the best outcome. But calling the poolice over $15 is wasting tax payer resources.

Best thing to do is to just let them have it, but tell them they're banned from the store forever. So you get rid of a thief for a minuscule price. It's actually a real win for the store.

The guy who got stabbed is lucky, extremely lucky he didn't die.
Its like people don't know how much pressure to apply. Here's a situation where least amount of confrontation wouldve worked out best. But when I'm at the library, the staffing does nothing to get rid of the homeless folks, who fks up the facility for everyone else.

If you steal, they should chop off a finger. If you steal again, you lose a whole hand.
It would deter people like OP from theft.
