Anyone feel like the internet steals too much of their time?
Yet here i am.
what's up with that? I'm super successful in my career and have fun hobbies, friends... but i still end up wasting a lot of time on the net?
Anyone else feel like that or do you feel like it's just a nice entertainment / relaxation thing?

I do feel the same.
Sometimes I just spend hours scrolling reading or watching things on social media or youtube, that I dont even enjoy watching. But its addictive. And then when I close my phone/laptop. I feel even more tired then before I started.
I think without internet I would read a book, or stare at a wall, go for a walk. After those things I do feel more relaxed and energized and good ideas pop up in my head.
Definitely not all bad though. Lot of valuable things I would have missed out on. Knowledge, good movies.
So I would say, its good and bad at the same time

It depends where you spend your time on the internet.
There are plenty of electronic trashbins where you can rot and probably actually get dumber from interacting with some of the posters.
Or you can go to places like LessWrong and bogleheads.com and hopefully learn things.

Yes, and I know I allow it too. I've been building a reading list of books to purchase. Gonna buy the first 2 on payday this week, srs.
When I was younger I would read before bed instead of scroll and watch videos. It's time to get back to that, plus I think it benefits mental health.

I've always enjoyed reading srs, it's just a hobby I've lost over the years.
Gaming just doesn't have the same appeal to me right now so this is a good time to mix it up.

Reality is I can't constantly be out doing a fun activity outside of my home every single spare minute I have. So I f*cking misc instead. Honestly I really would love to leave this place but I legit have nothing else to fill those gaps of time at home when I have everything work related done (or am taking a break) and I'm not interested in reading or watching TV.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

i can say the time before internet was as good or better than peak internet saturation days (like 2012-now). thoughts were organic and not mix match of a thousand other people's thoughts that rise to the top. there was no social media to get a read on people...everyone was a complete mystery beyond what they decided to wear that day. when you were just hanging out you had to find or create ways to entertain yourselves. also people could just make up or pass down extravagant bs stories that people couldn't really fact check...there was fun in that. people paid more attention too...now you can be in a place with 9 out of 10 people looking down at a phone. tech kinda detaches us from our humanity.
