Dumbbells clinging

Ok well I was warned at my gym to no longer clink the dumbbell because a 25 lb one broke. I don’t even use the 25 lb ones but they most certainly seemed like they were accusing me because they said they see me clink them. These dumbbells are actually made to do that and I’m not clinking them hard and I never drop them. Sone of the outer ends no longer have the protective cover so when you hit them the metal hits. How can you do shoulder presses or dumbbell bench presses without hitting the weights together?

I like the gym and the guy but there is quite a few things broken in there. They only have 2 stair masters and one is broken. Only 2/5 ellipticals work. The sit up machine has been broken for ages. Now a 25 lb dumbbell breaks and instead of fixing this stuff they blame the people who workout. It’s pretty pricey. 25 a membership plus a 60 dollar fee in august. That’s not cheap compared to the other places here. They also have 2 gyms.
