Stock Market just keeps flying

What a time to be alive

I started buying puts on the SPY last Friday when the market was at 4900, I was going to hit a second round of them the 2 days before the fed meeting but the market didn't hit my 1st upper price target of 493, I'm going to enter a second round of puts next week when the market hits my next price target(I'm not telling) and that should be the peak.

I bought another round of puts on the SPY on Friday when the market hit ~501, if CPI does not move this market down on Tuesday then I'll be buying another round on Tuesday at my next upper price target, in either case, I think we are close to a downturn.

Yea.......I've got a couple of my "long term" investments that are up 15%, 18%, 20% and I know they ain't gonna hold that.......wondering if I lock in profits and buy back when they settle back down a bit.

Or (most likely what I'll do).....keep holding and just buy more when they come back down to earth.

I bought puts on the spy with long dated expiration and calls on stuff like NVDA with a shorter dated expiration.

Economists are now predicting a soft landing. So probably time to sell on the news.

The first million took me over 30 years (from birth).
The second took less than 3.
The most recent million took less than 3 months.

Starting to feel a bit frothy/unreal but price represents the net aggregate opinion of all market participants across all timeframes, so until something changes I'm content to ride this.

Stocks aren't going up, they're going down.

The value of the dollar is going down faster, though.

And that's what you're seeing.

What you described could be a call or put butterfly or some nonsense spread...

I have some double calendars this week expiring Wednesday and Thursday. Up over 10% for now.

Ignore the headlines. Ignore the news. Ignore the noise. Most especially, ignore the "experts."

Focus on what the market is actually doing. Not what you hope or wish it would do but what is happening in front of you. There is a lot of opportunity to make money in rising, falling, and flat markets - you just need to put your ego aside. Most people are unable to do so.

Yeh this is my performance against the indices since 2019

Spoiler!

So far everything seems to suggest people should probably buckle in and prepare for rates staying higher for a lot longer than is generally believed/hoped

Looks like you're doing well. RBC Direct Investing? You must not be too active (which is generally a better approach anyway). Good on you for not following the crowd!

I have also outperformed the broad market over time. I do not make any prediction about the near term. It is impossible for literal PhD rocket scientists with supercomputers (other than Jim Simons). I am extremely confident I will be substantially wealthier 10, 20, and 30 years from now.

Yup exactly RBC, I've made probably less than 30 transactions total lol just started buying when the market crashed in 2019-2020 and have been sitting on it aside from clearing out the blue-line account for a down payment on a new house last year

Good stuff brah godspeed
