Did you know that beets turn your pee red?

I had the biggest scare of my life. I had beets yesterday, went to pee and looked down to dark pink toilet water. OMG. Then I remembered I had beets and looked it up and yeah, they do that. Whew close call.

Just pls beware.

Lol, yeah. Beets grow great in the garden, so we eat a lot of beets in the summer/fall. First time does kind of catch a person of guard.

Same when i had red dragonfruit for the first time when i was like 10 in taiwan. thought i was dying for a few hours before my mom remembered i had some red dragonfruit.

They can make it look like blood in your poop, too.

My brother had colon cancer, so that's the one that spooks me.

I don't like beets, but I tried some beet supplements to see what all the hype was about. Noticed the same thing. I drink a lot of water so my pee is usually super clear, but the beets kind of put a pink tinge on it. It's a weird sight.

That would freak me out lol. Never happened to me before. I don’t usually eat beets but I drink beet juice and occasionally beet powder for circulation/blood pressure benefits. It turns your chit red too.

Nah op you probably just have a UTI. Lots of female miscers get them.

To those that don't like beets, what kinds have you tried?

We just steam them and eat them plain. I'd compare the texture to boiled/steamed carrots and carrots are probably the closest comparable I can think of for flavor, too. I could see not liking pickled or canned beets, but fresh steamed beets have a pretty mild flavor.

I used to hate beets but now I like them. I had these in a salad and they were really good.
