It's true you are sacrificing yourself to the government, and maybe you don't agree they are worth that sacrifice but nonetheless by doing so you are contributing to something worthwhile in the grand scheme of things. Even those of you who think the government is run by morons and misuses it's resources have to admit that we do need some sort of military presence to avoid someone just going in dry on us. Imagine if we just had no defense.

When you enter the workforce you only have your body, and time, as capital (this includes the mind obviously). You exchange both to some degree for numbers on a screen to pay for everything.
