Do you guys think corporal punishment is effective?
I’m having a weird sense of Deja Vu that I might’ve made this thread in the past but anyways
I grew up being spanked with a belt and on quite a few occasions actually but usually it was just the glutes still enough to put the fear of god in me in regards to my father he was quite strict
All things considered I grew up to be fairly well adjusted and respectful responsible adult
Everytime I Google this question largely Reddit and other forums people are vehemently against corporal punishment in any fashion
But it’s legal in my state, to be honest I think there’s some kids who aren’t gonna learn that there’s real consequences to their actions until they get physically disciplined once or twice
I don’t think it’s something that should be employed on a regular basis but I do think corporal punishment has its place in cases where the child is extremely defiant

No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

My dad only spanked me only twice ever when i was little and when i truly just was ignoring anything they were saying and being an obnoxious little brat. I dont blame him for spanking me and still love my parents. After those times, just the threat of not listening to them when i was being too crazy was enough to get me to act right.

I think spankings have a place when it comes to discipline for sure. I was and I grew up well adjusted and a decent human being.
It’s the pussy liberal Reddit scum that are against it because they are soft and consider it abuse. Get real, that is insulting to actual child abuse victims

Yes corporal punishment is fine.
More importantly schools need to teach kids real life skills. Why tf are we teaching them about shakespeare?

Yes, but only when done in the spirit of discipline not anger, which is something MANY parents fail to put into practice.
A lot of my spankings or worst whooping's were because my father was just mad he had a long day at work or out of anger unrelated to me specifically, just like his father would do to him.
Unpack and process your trauma before having kids.
It's a confusing feeling to both love and resent someone at the same time.

It can be effective when it's used as a actual punishment, not as a substitute for teaching children how to behave.

Fathers who beat their children are cowards. I'm talking about defenseless children not teens who are asking for it

We’re talking about physical discipline in regards to a disrespectful and openly defiant child who’s behavior cannot be deescalated with words

Yes, its effective when used correctly.
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

My dad just used his hand though. I had one friend that got the belt which sounds slightly more extreme and probably not necessary.
