That's about as good advice as you can get. You can tweak and improve that by maybe 2%, but you'll pay 5% in fees to get that extra 2% so it's not worth it.
so why do so many successful people have financial advisors if thats all they do?

You typically won’t need to go look for one and I don’t like most companies designed just around financial advice like say Edward jones.

Once it becomes something you should realistically use, you’re banks wealth management and trust dept should just set you up with someone as a curtesy if you have questions about getting things done or have specific portfolio requests like having them manage etf bundles.

The only folks I know who sourced a "financial advisor" were those who inherited significant amounts and didn't know what they were supposed to do with it.

My crew and I discuss options, but most of us have our own solidified strategies. My own strategy was clear since I was an undergrad, srs.

People are always giving free financial advice without disclosing they are not an advisor how is this any different? Maybe if he was in a fiduciary role like a relationship manager at a bank (the unlicensed ones) or a loan officer. This is the equivalent of shooting the chit at the bar or something imo

Correct but I also er on the side of establishing facts that I’m not giving financial advice just speaking my opinion.

Having a written record of saying “here’s some financial advise for free” is a great way to end up defending yourself in a lawsuit in a very unlikely scenario.
