When everything is either politics, getter_done, wincel, or the same typical crap that has been here recently the last 2 years or so..what's the reason? Sometimes there's a golden nugget like with the Thundersnow but most is just the same drab.

IDK....this forum seems actively typical from my POV.
I've never been a prolific thread starter for a couple of reasons and only chime in on a topic that actually interests me.
If a topic is about ones' personal interests, activities or asking for help with something I'll look for a reason to respectably chime in.
Politics, religion, insults, trolling and all the alts keeps me at a distance and uninvolved.

What type of topics do you want to see?
Maybe start a new thread topic and assess the interest and contributions it receives?
Or, not.
