It's a solid realization. That was a little bit different as the differences were moreso based on strong ideology than political/national (i.e. WW1 Christmas truce soccer game), but that doesn't mean every single person over there is a complete scumbag. Not wartime, but I remember my father telling me stories from the 70's when he was stationed in Germany. They had lookout posts on the Russian border, and both them and the Russians would wave at each other from their posts all the time... then head back home to base when it was quitin time. Most are doing their job and don't really want to die for their country, or for any other reason really. Rather get home to their families.
