ITT: Starting yearly cut next Monday. Anyone else cutting currently/soon?

I've selected next Monday as my first day of my yearly cut. Got it all laid out, got out my old nutrition logs from last year, my old cut recipes, etc. Organizing my groceries this weekend, will be bulk buying chicken breasts. Pretty excited for this one. I've been able to maintain my general level of conditioning since last year's cut ended, so I'm poised to come out of this one leaner than ever.

Just thought I'd check in to see if anyone else here is currently cutting or planning to soon, and how that's going.

Any fun cut recipes? I'll probably wind up making more of my protein cheesecakes and sweet potato protein donuts.

What's that looking like in terms of cals and training? I'm looking at maybe 15 at the most across 12 weeks this year. I don't have that much to lose this time.

Nice. That's a good weight loss to cutting time ratio. Last year I got really motivated and started early in mid-February, but this year I actually, for the first time, don't really think I have a whole lot to loose, so the goal was to cut 3 months, March 1 - June 1.

Yeah, I've pretty much done the same thing since 2015 (except I was a lot bigger starting weight the first time I cut that year). I lost around 5 pounds the first week this year (water weight flies off at first). Then it is about a pound a week after that. Shoot for that sustainable weekly weight loss if you want it to stay off for the duration of the summer.

I put on 1lb a week during 8 weeks of funemployment. Started dieting after Christmas, and I'm now like 1-2 lbs away from goal weight.

Frankly, I need to be done, because my performance at my new job has taken a hit. Hard to sleep well and focus all day on a deficit.

Glad to see lots of folks here are keeping an active focus on their lifting and nutrition. We're all gonna make it (dead srs).

Honestly? I have black coffee, water, and just wait till meal # 1. I'm really busy so keeping busy also helps. If you sit around focusing on your hunger, it's like shining a magnifying glass on it.

Good luck on your cut! I can't start until I'm healed from surgery. Prob another couple weeks. I'm up about 5 lbs so it won't be too bad. It'll also be easier once I'm done taking Motrin every couple hours. I'm holding a lot of water weight from it.

I need to get back to upper body workouts. I say every day I'm going to do it but then I don't get any sleep and blow it off. I got a little bit of sleep last night so I will try to get myself down into the basement. I've been walking 10 min outside every day this week. It's very hilly here and going downhill is tough so have to go very slow and haven't extended the time yet. Up hill is much easier so I think I'll try to get on the treadmill today with an incline for 15 min and see how that goes. That will be in addition to my 10 mins outside.

I'm hoping in the next week or two I'll be able to start doing bodyweight leg ext and some light RDL's. I do my PT exercise twice a day every day. Once I can really get back into lifting and longer cardio losing this 5 lbs shouldn't be hard at all.

Id say I'm starting less of a "cut" and more of a shift back to the way I used to eat/workout......We had a kid almost exactly a year ago and are just now getting to feeling like we are getting back to a normal sleep and overall normal schedule. There for a while it was eat whatever is easiest, maybe workout 2-3x month (and we have a full gym in the garage)......I'm not completely out of shape and didn't really gain any weight, just have lost a good bit of muscle mass/strength and just don't feel like myself anymore....lacking energy, knees and lower back hurt, kind of foggy brain....

In the last 2 weeks I've gotten back on meal prepping and have worked out 3x a week....already feeling way better. Excited to keep it up

The issue now is how busy I am with work....I like to workout around lunchtime....which these days I usually dont get a break from 7am-530pm, wife and kid get home at 445, kid goes to bed at 630/7 so I pretty much decided for my mental health that no matter what I am going to take a workout break 3x week from 12-1 and work can just deal with it.

When my daughter was young I went to the gym after we put her to bed at 9pm, but I didn't start at 7am! More like 9am. It was tough to get to bed that late, though.

As a woman it's too much of a hassle work out in the morning or lunch because you have to redo your hair and makeup. Men are lucky.

Yea, My wife and I are up at 6am, daughter is up around 630, I get her ready while the wife finishes getting ready, They leave around 700, wife drops her at daycare (2 minutes from her work which is 35 minutes from the house and I work from home) I sit at my desk at 705 and damn near cant walk away from it till 5/530. Wife gets home around 445 so from the time I walk away from my computer till the baby goes to bed at 630 is my time with her. My wife usually works out 2-3x a week after the baby goes to bed while I get dinner ready....eat dinner, shower then have like an hour to ourselves before bed at 9-930. And for me, I don't like to workout at night and as of now, I am not getting up at 430/5am to workout either.... hence why I am now of the mind that work can deal with me being unavailable for 1 hour 2-3 days a week.

All of that was also the main reason we built a full gym in our garage....there is no way in hell we would drive 20 minutes to the closest gym at this point in our life.

^ Scheduling in training absolutely becomes more logistically demanding as life goes on for sure! I also built a garage gym 5 years ago and it's been one of the best moves I could have made, continuing to pay me back dividends to this day. Gotta be honest with myself, if I had to travel to a commercial gym, it would be a lot more difficult to schedule in. It's great to walk to my garage dungeon gym at 7:30am and hit the weights before work. There's no room for excuses at this point. I used to train after work daily from 5:30-6:30 or something and there's no way in hell I could do that nowadays.

Logistically speaking, this cut will definitely be the most difficult of my life. It's the first time I really have doubts of being able to see it through. Will try my best.
