For the trip, Miller bought 15 new outfits and paid for her hair and nails done in a makeover, excitedly recalling how good she looked for the trip.
Then in Miami, Miller spent much of her new cash on steak dinners, new gadgets and toys and a boat tour past some of the city’s most expensive mansions.

I crashed my motorcycle and was on temporary disability.
There was a bit of a screw up with it so i got a lump sum of $2600 after a couple months.
I used that money to pay off a credit card that happened to have that same balance. Then I used the snowball technique to pay off all the rest of them. Then I payed off my back taxes which was a lot. I was never out of pocket more than what i was already paying so it was relatively painless.
After a while I was clear of all my bills and that money went to savings. I kept saving and was able to retire early.
All because of that $2600.
This lady is a complete fool.

No need to bring race into this, just a dumb ass 27 years old mom with three kids who's poor and will forever stay poor due to never holding onto or investing any money they encounter.
IMO, you need a net worth of $1m to justify an expensive vehicle ($50k+) that is merely used for leisure/commute. But $10k on straight up leisure? That's probably like 20% or more of her net worth I'd bet, given the circumstances of how she got the money in the first place.
The most I've spent on a vacation is around $4.5k, and that involved a long 7 days cruise departing from Miami. My net worth was around $100k at the time though, and I did feel slight guilt for doing that, srs. In her situation I don't think my conscience would sit right.

2. Hurricane Katrina was the first time this came out on the news. People who had their entire life washed away, living temporarily in shelters, were given a $2000 debit card.
