Misc gamers-the problem with “difficult” games today
It’s often not about how good you are. It’s about how long you play. You have to memorize the game, the enemies, their actions, look up “that one way to survive” on youtube, and cheese the game with your knowledge of how it works. This is common on hard modes of damn near any game lately.
I don’t like the structure at all. You aren’t supposed to be able to predict what happens after many attempts. You aren’t supposed to look up how to get through something that only gives you one way to get through it. You are supposed to be good, on the first try, and survive. Reflexes, not knowing what will happen, and skill should be the driving force. Not predicting the exact sequence of what will happen because you died 350 times.

I love games with no difficulty settings. Elden Ring and other souls games are great for that.
Git Gud pleb, or don't play. No story mode.
One of the things I love about BG3 honor mode. No save scumming. You can 'reset' a tough battle by turning off your computer but you only ever get 1 save. It makes your decisions have more weight. You can't go back and change anything after that next autosave. You're stuck with your decisions for the rest of the playthrough. The honor mode camp at the end is a nice bonus perk.

Most games today don't take much skill, or figuring things out. It's the era of X-ray vision, pings on where to go, what to do, redundant tasks and bullet sponge enemies.
Not every game is like this, but feel the majority of them are. It's dumbed down gaming

it's true, and about early you start.
I played the latest ufc game on ps online and was so jealous of players that make it look better than reality. And yea games like fps, rts, or even turn based games are all about how good one has their muscle memory at damn near flawless

He's doing just that with lies of p right now.
Anyways, everything that requires skill needs to be practiced. No one can just pick up dark souls never having played a similar game before and just beat it.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Hell, even actual fighting is like that. Boxing is negotiating subtle muscle cues to know how to counter or evade.

I get this chit with runescape.
Theres endgame content thats really beneficial but you can only do it consistently if you go balls deep & keep it up.
I play like for a week then i quit for a month or two so i never progress on those content.
There should be challenges for the hardcore gamers & then keep the basic needs behind challenges that can be done without geeking it out for weeks.

Most "git gud" games are centered around repetition. Doing the same run and taking on the same boss over and over again until you memorize everything, and it becomes muscle memory. OP is right, that's basically what a lot of video game difficulty seems to be centered around, especially when it comes to the 3'rd person action genre.
The only true skill based gaming is when you get into that e-sport bullchit which is basically it's own category of taking video games way too seriously.
I think it all comes down to if you prefer to play your games as leisure or if you want it to be a source of overcoming challenges in life or something. Personally I never saw gaming as much of an accomplishment unless you're one of those people who turned it into a job.

Played through COD campaigns , it’s the one released in 2007 . Anyways I went threw it on medium ,then I go back and go threw it on its hardest settings . I’m getting ass handed to me regardless of knowing what to expect .
You would think that with AI and all , the games released now would be more unpredictable .
I’ll have to get a newer release and see , but apparently there all chit

The only games that do difficulty right are strategy games like Baldur's Gate, Civilization, Total War... and ARPGs like Path of Exile or Last Epoch. That's about it IMO.
The difficulty in Soulsborne games is dealing with clunky combat and unexpected traps. The difficulty in gotcha games is overcoming the urge to speed things up with some money. The difficulty in shooter games is reacting to what's in front of you while being the first one to make a move, which is where map memorization comes into play. The difficulty in MMOs is memorizing boss mechanics and min/maxing to not feel like a leech. The difficulty in battle royale games is getting lucky with the looting while being stealthy. The difficulty in horror games is running away from creeps chasing you. The difficulty in platformers is dodging projectiles.
Pick what type of difficulty you want. I like MMOs that are done right, strategy games, and ARPGs.
