Signing up for a boxing gym today

Have always wanted to learn to box/fight and decided to go sign up today. My boy goes to a pretty good gym like 25 min away so I’m going today to sign up. Pretty good price and looks legit

Have been in a good amount of fights before and naturally did well. Naturally aggressive, long arms quick heavy hands great reaction time extremely high endurance & pain tolerance etc. Now with some actual training behind me I’m gonna be a fuking killer fuuuuark. Also pretty sure it’s in my genetics as my dad was fighting in the streets of Mexico and then a bit of amateur from like age 5-18 lol

Anyone here box or do a martial art? Pretty excited ngl, ready to get my ass humbled

Enjoy brah. Did Muay Thai for several years. I always wanted to box but never had a gym in my area that focused solely on it. Muay Thai was great though, improved cardio, reaction time, and flexibility. One of the best workouts.

Definitely learn what the gym's rules for sparring are. The gym in my college town was a free for all after the group session ended but the place I most recently went to required you to log a certain number of practice hours before they'd let you spar.

Move to pads and sparring as soon as you can. And it sounds like you would benefit from custom gloves so ask about those. A lot of people are using Mexican made gloves.
